5 out of 5 eggsUltimate USB to Ethernet Adapter (IMHO)

Pros: Works at all speeds (especially 1000)
Works with crossover cables (yes, some don't)
Works with Windows XP and Windows 7 64bit

Cons: Can find any --- may be bulky for some users. Not a problem for me.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks out of the box on Ubuntu 11.10

Pros: Reasonably priced on Newegg, looks good, works out of the box with Ubuntu 11.10.

I read many reviews online, and it seems like most Gigabit USB Ethernet adapters require some effort to work on Linux. This one doesn't so, if you're on Ubuntu or some other Linux, I think it's worth buying for this reason alone.

Cons: Bulkier than other adapters. Personally, I don't really care if it gets the job done, but I couldn't leave this box blank.

Other Thoughts: I also tried an adapter from a different company, which did not work out of the box on Ubuntu.

I'm using this adapter on a laptop without an Ethernet port, which now works as a server.

3 out of 5 eggsMarginal for streaming video

Pros: Gigabit

Cons: Did not work well for streaming mpg2 HD video encoded at 15mbps on an i7 processor computer running Win7 64bit. TRENDnet support did respond but was not interested in addressing the actual issue = poor service.

Other Thoughts: I have used a similar competitive device on XP for years running similar streams without problems. I can run the same mpg2 HD stream out of the on board interface without problems.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet!

Pros: - Great for everyday computing.
- Doesn't take up a PCI slot!

Cons: - Need Internet Connection to install on Windows 7 x86, x64. Uses Windows Update to find drivers.
- Little bulky.

Other Thoughts: Bought 4 of these for the company. Was having problems with maintaining connections to Microsoft Exchange and Quickbooks on a couple 10/100 Dells upgraded to Windows 7. Slapped these babies on there and life was smooth and wonderful again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great, good price!

Pros: Great price. Only way I could add gigabit to a full system.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Had to replace the first one under warranty. Trendnet customer service was great and replaced it with no problems.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Ubuntu Linux 8.10 automatically recognized the device.

Cons: Only works in Gigabit mode. Will not talk to 10/100 equipment.

Other Thoughts: Could be driver issues.

5 out of 5 eggsMost excellent

Pros: Good price no problems whatsoever. Hooks up downloads. I am ordering two more.

Cons: Who would have known I eat so many eggs my computers have to get cholesterol checks.

Other Thoughts: Customer service beyond compare. All these other wannabes might have lower prices with cheaper parts but we only shop here because New Egg takes care of us, any trouble, which is rare, they are right on it. Thanks Guys.

1 out of 5 eggsNot stable

Pros: Worked for a day, connected at 1GB, drivers installed.

Cons: Stopped working for no known reason. Device cannot start code 10. Then started again, but only at 100MB in exactly the same port with the same cable.

Other Thoughts: I'd go with another one.
