5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: inexpensive.
good cable arrangement.
easy to use. hook up a drive and fires right up, recgonized by windows as external drive.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: took a friends laptop drive out and hooked it up. scanned for viruses, no problems with the adapter, and got his laptop back up and running. glad I got the rubber drive shields too.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome backup device

Pros: The USB interface of this drive adapter saves considerable time and effort when backing up data for my customers. No jumper hassle and plugging and unplugging of drives etc. SATA connection, laptop hard drives, 2.5 and 3.5 IDE interfaces cover you when you need a fast reliable backup solution.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the fastest ship time you can have. I will always use Newegg when possible. Great company!

2 out of 5 eggsTried on many drives.

Pros: Small and easy to use. Works with everything I have thrown at it.

Cons: Ever since I started using it I have had blue screens of death. The issue come from copying files from a dying drive (Number one use of these) to a working drive. It copied the corruption over and now I have to format a drive to make it work again.

5 out of 5 eggsHard to complain with a price this low.

Pros: Cheap, supports 1TB drives, works with "all" drives (2.5/3.5 IDE, SATA), seems fast, power supply plugs directly in to interface when using SATA.

Cons: Klunky. USB only.

Other Thoughts: I bought this since it was the cheapest one NewEgg had that specifically claimed 1TB support (what, it won't handle 1.5TB?). It worked like a charm, allowing me to format and fill two 1TB drives I ordered while I waited for a new enclosure to arrive from another company.

Benchmarks show the speed is about what you'd expect from USB. As long as it keeps working, I can see it being real useful for the designed intent.

The seperate power supply has a IDE-style plug on it, so when using IDE you plug that supply in to your drive, then this USB adapter in to the IDE plug of the drive. Unlike some other devices I saw, for SATA drives you plug the power adapter IN to the USB adapter box, then plug the whole thing in to the drive. I like this better than always having the power supply going in seperate (and it saves needing an adatper). Some similar interfaces ship with the USB adapter, and a power supply adatper (IDE port), then an adapter cable you plug in to convert IDE power to SATA.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked. For Awhile Anyway...

Pros: It was great while it worked.

Cons: After using this device on 25 to 30 Drives, it no longer works!

Other Thoughts: If I buy a Keyboard or Mouse, A Car, TV, or a microwave oven, etc. And they only work up to 30 times at the most, am I supposed to be happy with the quality?
Well; I’m not happy with this poor quality device!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Tech work!

Pros: Easily connect via USB, comes with own power supply. Has built in data transfer indicator light. Very lightweight and pocket portable.

Cons: Not really any. Not meant as a substitute for permanent drive adapter in machine. I think someone else had that idea in their review

Other Thoughts: Have used on hundreds of drives, still no problem. Great for pulling infected drives out on customer machines and scanning with antivirus. Also great for formatting old drives.

4 out of 5 eggs3 in 1 Drive Adapter

Pros: Adapts to 2.5" and 3.5" SATA and ATA hard-drives... Fired right up and worked great on my XP pro machine without having to load any drivers

Cons: Bulky... You have to be careful or the plugs come loose (and subsequently fall out).

Other Thoughts: A GREAT way to access old drives

2 out of 5 eggslooked like what I needed...

Pros: triple interface should allow me to carry one device for PATA and SATA drives. SATA devices worked as advertised, if not quite at full speed.

Cons: tried cable select, master/single, and slave jumper settings with 4 different PATA drives -- didn't work with any of drive, any setting.

Other Thoughts: For PATA, consider the BYTECC BT-200 (Newegg Item # N82E16812156101). Has been working well for me for months -- will probably return this PPA device and get the ByteCC SATA/USB adapter instead.
