1 out of 5 eggsBroke within a couple weeks

Pros: Easy set up

Cons: Connected to equipment with DB9 connector (Adtran OPTI6100 SCM) and locked up equipment management. Tested cable and no receive data with loopback on Pins 2 and 3. Problem with cable, used another one with no issues.

Other Thoughts: Put serial ports back on laptops.

1 out of 5 eggsNot for Opti UPS back-up

Pros: None

Cons: Wanted to use with Opti UPS unit that comes only with serial cable. Installed cable drivers & UPS software, but it does not work.

Other Thoughts: Really, the OPTI folks need a USB interface.

5 out of 5 eggs64 bit Win 7

Pros: Nice long cable. Works OK in 64bit Win 7 with driver but...

Cons: Driver was difficult to locate on vendor website. Win 7 did not recognize the adapter natively. Did not work at all without the driver.

Other Thoughts: Using it to forward data from an Oregon Scientific 968 wireless weather station that continues to use a Serial port for 20th century!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Product works perfectly, easy setup, easy operation, LONG cable. No flaws whatsoever.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The cable length is perfect for working in network closets or other spaces where you might need to set your laptop down across the room and be consoled into a racked device. I let my boss use it for a project and he bought one for every member of the team, since very few laptops come with a serial port these days.
