1 out of 5 eggsDid not work at all

Pros: Small package form factor

Cons: The Sabrent Did not work at all.
The Link Depot Model USB-PS2 USB to PS/2 Converter did perfectly. Tried multiple units too.

Other Thoughts: I contacted tech support for the Sabrent. They asked me to return it for a refund.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it should

Pros: Bought this for my X-arcade. It worked until I installed Windows 7.
Now it provides easy plugging and unplugging for my mobile system (its a pain finding the directions of the pins on both ps/2s versus just plugging a usb in the front).
Also, we used this with a KVM on the PC end because we didn't have any PS/2 ports on the system we were connecting it to. Even after going through all of those connections and the switch hub, it still worked.
The green indicator LED is nice. Its like the nic card, without the light you know there is no connection...

Cons: None that I can find.

Other Thoughts: Not much more can be said other than what is in the description.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Enables use of older PS2 keyboard/ mouse on newer USB only devices. Would have got five stars if they engineered a little anti-slip resistance into the PS2 connectors.

Cons: Connectors can slip out. Tape if you need to. I didn't

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: did not work with mice

Other Thoughts: ordered 5 of these. tried them on a dell and a HP pavilion. the keyboard worked on both, but the mice didn't work on either.

Returning these. gonna get the belden cable, which I know works.

1 out of 5 eggsNo go with KVMs

Pros: Works without KVM

Cons: Doesn't work with any KVM I've tried, from cheap $20 models to $800 server rackmount ones.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this for my PS/2 server rack KVM so I wouldn't have to keep using a USB mouse plugged into the front of a server that only had a PS/2 keyboard port (but a gazillion USB ports). No luck with this device. Tested both keyboard and mouse ports and they'll work until you connect them to the KVM.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid performance. I've used it primarily for mice (old logitechs, mostly 3-button trackballs) and only briefly for a keyboard. Used it on 4 machines (Win2000 Pro SP4, WinXP SP1 & SP3, Windows 7 Pro; MSI, ABIT, and ASRock motherboards) without any problems, though Windows 7 required a reboot to be fully happy switching to this from a PS/2 port mouse (using an actual PS/2 port on the motherboard). Worked fine with my IOGear KVM switch as well

- Mouse shows up as "HID-compliant"
- Successfully transmits mousewheel and higher-than-2 mouse buttons (ie MOUSE3, MOUSE4, and MOUSE5) with the OS's default drivers
- Also works successfully with 2 mice connected (one to the KB-marked plug, and one to the mouse-marked plug).
- No induced delay I could detect

Cons: The LED light is barely noticeable (not that I mind, but figured it's worth mentioning)

Other Thoughts: I'm surprised at the number of DOA/doesn't-work comments. This has worked flawlessly for me, even when I was 'misusing' it (various hotpluggings, multiple mice, etc). They seem to mostly be for Win7, but in my Win7 experiments, it worked just as well as elsewhere, providing the full mouse functionality without any configuration.

For modern machines, the default PS/2 mouse drivers don't tend to play nice with the higher mousebuttons (ie MOUSE3, etc) - they are registered in such a way that only some applications will acknowledge them. Since finding useable device-specific drivers can be near-impossible for sufficiently old hardware, this is a real problem. Using this converter, the default drivers do properly register the higher mouse buttons, making this converter a simple and effective solution.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: Can't have a Pro if it doesn't work!

Cons: Don't work.

Other Thoughts: We bought one of these at work because it was just supposed to operate with no drivers needed. I've tried it on 3 Win 7 machines and each time it generates the dreaded "Windows has stopped this device code 43". It simply won't work. We tossed it in the trash bin and noted to never buy "Sabrent" items again. Would have rated zero eggs, but I have to select at least one to submit the review. Beware of this item.
