5 out of 5 eggsWorked HP1220C

Pros: It was easy to hookup to my existing parallel cable and plugged it into the USB port in the computer. I had no idea if it would work or not. The old work horse printer still continues to print. I am using it with Windows 7.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsDiappointed, my own fault

Pros: Item is as stated. Fast shipping. Can't fault New Egg for my lack of investigation.

Cons: Not parallel, my own fault

Other Thoughts: I ordered this product thinking it would solve my issues with my HP Laserjet 4L, which is a work horse. I didn't look deep enough to realize that even though one end was the USB I needed, the other end had female pin connectors which will not fit into the parallel connector on printer. I have a newer wireless printer which works fine with my new system and home network. The 4L is a workhorse for which I have a brand new, unopened cartridge. My last cartridge lasted 10 years. The new printer doesn't get nearly that amount of printing on a cartridge. Anyone know of an available adapter I can get for parallel to the DB25?

2 out of 5 eggsNot for Scanners - Printers Only

Pros: Length of cable

Cons: Does not work with scanners, just printers only.

Other Thoughts: If the product will not, or is not designed to work with scanners, please say so, I hate I wasted money that I don't have on something that would not work.

5 out of 5 eggsIt workes with windows64bit

Pros: Bottom line it worked. I used it with a newer HP machine running windows 7 pro 64 bit to print on my old HP LaserJet 6L printer. and voila . . it was recognized from the first time and prints perfectly.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I simply recomend it . . .But I dont know if I was lucky because both my computer and the Printer are HP's ??

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Does exactly what it says. Windows 7 does not even require installation. Just simply plug it in and use it. Feels decent quality, which is a plus.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: Other people might have had an issue with their items not working, you have to see which virtual com port was assigned to the cable, via devices and printers menu. Then set your hardware to match. Make sure to select "Virtual Serial Port 4 on USB" or something similiar, not just "COM4". Good luck!

5 out of 5 eggsWorked right away!

Pros: Worked just fine. Windows detected it, and once the printer was configured, printing worked as well.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: As I saw in a previous comment, I got a black one as well, not the blue one shown. Color doesn't make a difference for me. One thing that I didn't notice, was that the DB25 end had the tightening screws. The cable I hooked it to had them as well, so I was unable to screw them together, but that won't be an issue. Just hope this will help others double check their cables.

5 out of 5 eggsFunctions

Pros: Worked the first time, and needed no special drivers.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Amazingly functional the first time. I can't say that about some other USB parallel printer adapters. Also, when you buy adapters, make sure that the connector is the correct type. Check if there's an additional adapter required to convert the DB-25 to a mini-Centronics or other alien printer plug.

5 out of 5 eggsEasiest printer installation ever

Pros: Windows 7 took care of everything.

Cons: The only downside (NOT the fault of this cable!) is that old printers... are... pretty... slow.

Other Thoughts: I'd give it 6 stars if I could because it exceeded my expectations. Here's what I did to install a printer that's been out of support for 11 years (LaserJet 4L) in Windows 7 64-bit:

1. Plug this adapter in by all itself and let Windows install the device driver. (less than one minute). I didn't want Windows to start talking to the printer via an incomplete communication link.
2. Detach this adapter.
3. Attach the actual printer cable (the one with a Centronics connector) to the printer, and that cable to this adapter.
4. Finally, re-plug the USB end into the PC and wait for Windows to install the printer driver (about 2 minutes via Windows Update).

That's it. No manual settings were required. The printer driver is fully functional with all print options available.
