5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: It really does work on most drives (will not work on scsi).

No problems on the Mac OS 10.10

Cons: the instruction manual.. wow.. someone spent 15 minutes generating the manual.

Other Thoughts: I would give it 4.5 stars cause of the manual.

if I were Sabrent, I would revise the instructions and make a pdf... There is not a single photo/illustration in the instructions. I know its pretty much a nobrainer in the end.

Still have not figured out the 2pin to 4pin (but only 2 pin) connector.

4 out of 5 eggsExactly what i wanted.

Pros: i had 2 very old ide drives as well as some mid aged sata drives that i did not really know what was on and never felt it was worth the work to mount them just to check, this was perfect i was able to just plug it in to them 1 at a time even some laptop hard drives and copy over what i wanted and completely scrub and wipe all the data and reformat when i was done and now i can safely get rid of them without fear of personal data being recovered.

Cons: There was 1 drive (laptop ide) that did not work because of how big the adapter was but 1 out of 7 is still great. The only reason i did not give 5 stars was because of this.

Other Thoughts: the power adapter part that lets it power the SATA drives was broken when i got it, instead of going through a return i decided it was a simple fix and it was another reason not 5 eggs.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: when it works, they work fine.

Cons: we have many of these. this product seems changed from the earlier models, and we have some problems with the connectors not seating fully and coming apart. this causes problems when attaching hard drives

2 out of 5 eggsBroken Power Source

Pros: Great product, or at least it would be if it worked. The power source was broken on arrival.

Cons: Not sure did not get to use it.The power source was broken on arrival.

Other Thoughts: Other users say that it is not compatible with WD Cavier Blue Desktop hard drives so I am ordering a Vantec Model CB-ISATAU2

1 out of 5 eggsI always thought it worked ok, but not anymore!!!

Pros: It worked with IDE and 2.5" laptop SATA drives.

Cons: ...but absolutely refuses to work with any of my WD Caviar Black SATA drives. Power is still there, but no desktop size SATA drives will work with it. They don't even spin up, although they are recognized as a drive, these have data on them and there is no way to format it even if I wanted to. It's like it does need a driver or something, because the drive shows up as just "Disk Drive" with no known driver and no manufacturer's name or model. The properties are all blank, and when I plug these SATA Caviar drives in, only the USB light comes on. The SATA light does nothing, unless I'm using a laptop drive with it.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor...spend a bit more money on a different, better brand. This one is hit and miss, for no apparent reason. I think Sabrent should find me a fncking driver, since this obviously is not recognizing full size WD SATA drives at all. GRRRR!!!

4 out of 5 eggsWorked for 2 years

Pros: Worked right out of box, no additional drivers required. It worked with a variety of hardware (cd/dvd drives, IDE hdd). I was using it for a makeshift external optical drive when my internal drive went out on my laptop.

Cons: Stopped working after about 2 years of fairly consistent use. For the price, I wasn't expecting it to last much longer anyway.

Other Thoughts: The order of which you plug in devices DOES matter. If you don't plug things in in the correct order you will not see any devices connected.
