1 out of 5 eggsNOT USB 2.0!

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Not USB 2.0! Would have been nice if you would have included that information.

3 out of 5 eggsIt works but thats about it.

Pros: It work and does extend USB.

Cons: Its USB 1 and if your planning on using it for fast data transfer you'll be upset.

Other Thoughts: I guess Newegg has decided that if you omit USB description then you should assume its USB 1. Lesson learned Ill inquire if its USB 2 before buying next time.

I bought this to extend the connection between my Cannon and my Laptop through DSLR PRo so the session producer could see the shots in real time.

Needless to say it couldnt do that job.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This unit works very well for USB 1.0 devices. I use it for my logitech wave mouse and keyboard combo. Its running through a 100ft cat6 cable. For the price it's a good deal, other devices sell for higher prices but I think they are mostly USB1.0.

Cons: None at all, works as described.

Other Thoughts: I did connect USB2.0 devices and they connect and 'work', but windows does pop up and say the normal 'this device will operate faster if connected to a usb2.0 port'.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Needed to extend 5 USB cables over ethernet - all 5 units worked well out of the box. Don't expect miracles from this, but it does solve unique problems.

Cons: Nothing

1 out of 5 eggsNot for high demand applications

Pros: Will work with limited applications...

Cons: Will only work with limited applications...

Other Thoughts: I bought this thinking of locating a G19 keyboard 100ft away so i can have a gaming screen on my 67 inch HD TV. However after trying this idea out the keyboard connects and disconnects every 30 seconds or so. I tried the connector with a 5ft test cable with same results. DO NOT BUY THIS for any advanced application. It will not work.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for X10 module

Pros: Works as designed for USB 1.X devices. I tested with a mouse, keyboard, and a X10 Active Home Pro control module.

The x10 module is in my basement close to the circuit breaker box and my server is on the second floor. X10 control modules should always be located close to the breaker box to maximize signal strength over electrical wires. Between which I have about 75' of CAT 6 UTP with patch panel connections at both ends. I see a solid connection when uploading code to the X10 module (the most aggressive task over this connection). Also my Windows server for my X10 home control network reside inside a VM on my server, and I showed no incompatiblity with redirecting the USB port to the Windows Server VM. If my setup works, I suspect a less complex setup will work. I did not require a powered USB hub at the far end of the cable, but that may be since the X10 module is powered.

I'm impressed.

Cons: Newegg was not the lowest cost by a significant margin. While I am a dedicated customer because of the service Newegg provides, I could not justify the extra cost due to the significant difference and went with another vendor.

Other Thoughts: For my purposes, worth the cost either way. This saves me from having a small lightly used server in my basement just to upload code to a USB device. A 75' USB cable behind my walls, unreal! =)

4 out of 5 eggsGot it working!

Pros: It works! There's definitely a power problem so if you are using a usb device requiring power you need to use a usb hub to power it. I plugged it into the computer and I am using a hub on the receiver side. The computer recognized the hub and then recognized the wireless keyboard/mouse I plugged into it. It is only usb 1 but that's all I needed for it. Still using a cat 5e 50' cable. The hub I'm using is a usb 2.0 hub but again it only works at usb 1 speeds.

Cons: Only USB 1 compliant.

1 out of 5 eggsSo far, so bad

Pros: Worked for about 30 seconds

Cons: Attached via 50' cat 5e cable to new pc running vista 64. Plugged into 4 hub usb on pc side. Using ms wireless mouse/keyboard. It recognized and worked for about 30 seconds. Then stopped. Went to basement to check computer and windows had message indicating that USB failed to recognize. Tried plugging in different ports with no luck.

Other Thoughts: Will try USB Hub on both sides to help the possible power problem. Will try short cat5 to test if works. Will buy 50' cat 6 and try that. Will post results. Hoping my upgrade to windows7 in a few weeks will solve all.

1 out of 5 eggsEither DOA or incompatible

Pros: None

Cons: Tried 2 different Vista 64 computers and three Cat5 cords, with optical mouse (very low power draw). Plugging into a working USB port would not work. LED lit up on the computer side but not the remote side.

Other Thoughts: Had a working extender for a couple of years, but it gave up the ghost recently. For a living room HTPC with computer in the basement.
