4 out of 5 eggsWorked, correct connector

Pros: Worked right away. Has correct connector for most devices with a 9-pin serial port, male connector and thumbscrews, not nuts.

Cons: Short wire between serial port and usb port. Required a USB extension.

4 out of 5 eggsdoes the job

Pros: Uses the FTDI chipset

Cons: My computer would not recognize the drivers on the included disc

Other Thoughts: I needed usb to rs 232 adapter, to be able to use my programing cable for my Icom ic-t90a hand held amateur (ham) radio transceiver.
The reason i wanted the FTDI chipset adapter cable was most cables use the Prolific chipset and many are counterfeit and they also have driver install problems that can't be fixed as easily as this was (look at the hundreds of adapters on the big auction site from china)

The biggest problem was the drivers. The included disc was not recognized by my windows xp computer.

I thought about it for awhile and went to the FTDI website and the driver for the chipset was there. I downloaded it and was up and running in a few minutes
