3 out of 5 eggsVery useable when tweaked

Pros: Fills an often overlooked area allowing for easy HDD and SST replacement in many modern cases, especially those allowing mounting SSD into latching housing.

Cons: As mentioned by others above, this device is somewhat flawed and in need of refinement.

Other Thoughts: Although I agree with the assessments mentioned above I found it worked well with certain alterations to assembly and procedures. The CP-06 power cable did connect to four CP-05SAS adapters in my FT02 case with an additional CP-05 filling the fifth position. Since the CP-06 power cable will put the adapter brackets under some increased strain it seemed prudent to drill and tap out the three holes completely through to the back surface to allow use of longer and larger #6-32 screws. I used a thin or small diameter head to avoid interference with the installed SSD. A side benefit is a screw installation of an additional 1/4" in length at any location may serve as an attaching point for securing cables. I used right angle SATA cables which will protrude into the removable bay, curve 180 degrees around and pass between it and the next bay in the lineup. This works well as all may then be routed along the same path beneath the side cover toward the MB. The caveat is that this works well but only for the slimmer SSDs. A full size HDD won’t allow cable routing in this manner but these will fit nicely into the fifth slotted CP-05. In addition, the four CP-05SASs, right angle SATA cables and CP-06 power cable need to be assembled as a unit then mounted to the case. Releasing the cable lock is easily accomplished using a thin piece (about .020") of metal. Push in alongside the back cover reinforcement lip, rotate 90 degrees and slide in between the SATA right angle lock and cover back then remove the cable.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: In theory these would be wonderful.

Cons: In practice, they are utter trash. No matter how they are installed, the power connectors would not allow me to use all 5 slots on a 52B Silverstone cage. I couldn't get more than 3 of them into my Raven chassis either. They MAY work better if you get the CP06 power cable with them, but I cannot see how.

Other Thoughts: The power conections should have been made just like a conventional backplane, perpindicular to the PCB.

4 out of 5 eggsRevised review

Pros: Lets you get rid of the massive spaghetti of cables that multiple original CP05 produce.

I originally purchased 4 of to clean up my FT02 and while it semi works it's not really worth the trouble if you have the original CP05 but this product is just about perfect when used in conjunction CFP52B and sas drives.

I've now got 10 of these working with 2 CFP52B and 2 in my ft02 and they make it easy to keep the power cables neat and out of the way while allowing me to use the dual port feature on my 8 sas drives.

Cons: These still don't work real well in a FT02 case as the CP06 cable they suggest don't fit well in the that case and I had to modify one of the CP06 I had to get it to work with my setup. Outside of issues with the FT02 case they don't have any real problems when used with a CFP52B

Other Thoughts: If you don't want to spend the money on the silverstone cables they suggest you can use the Nippon Labs Ultra Thin Premium Mini SATA II Cable (N82E16812816061) that newegg sells and they work better size wise then the suggested silverstone cable though they do have a external retention bracket which makes it very hard to remove the cable with the bracket installed and all but impossible to remove the cable once the bracket is installed in the computer.

1 out of 5 eggsAwesome idea flawed outcome

Pros: Lets you get rid of the massive spaghetti of cables that multiple basic CP05 produces. I purchased 4 of to clean up my FT02

Cons: You can seemingly only use 3 of them in a FT02 and if you take them apart to install a CP06 power cable as shown in the instruction there is a very good chance the screws holes in the plastic bracket will be striped and wont thread back in which causes the PCB board to basically pop off the plastic bracket if you mount them.

One other minor issue is you can't and do not want to use any sas/sata cable with any form of external retention system as the plastic bracket complete blocks access so you have to take it apart to change the sas/sata cable. You can also not use any 90 degree cables

Other Thoughts: If these worked as expected they would be the perfect add-on for the FT02 or any other silverstone case with hot-swap bays but as built they're pretty much worthless. I'm gonna try and see how they work on my servers CFP52B hot swap bays this weekend but even if they work it's still to flawed to suggest anyone buy these right now
