5 out of 5 eggsSolved my USB 3.0 PC Case w/ USB 2.0 motherboard issue

Pros: Works as intended. Good stop gap if you buy a newer case but want to keep your older USB 2.0 motherboard.

Used about 2 years and going strong.

Cons: Could be a little less bulky after all it is for USB ports; hard to hid if you care about the aesthetics.

Other Thoughts: Was hard to find when I bought it. Also would hope that this item would be include with nicer cases by default.

5 out of 5 eggsIt work

Pros: It converts 3.0 front headers to 2.0 internal headers for those with older motherboard (Such as the entry level P67 motherboards)

Cons: It's expensive

5 out of 5 eggsSaved me

Pros: Works great, installed it and promptly forgot about it since its hidden and hasn't had any issues.

Cons: None thus far

Other Thoughts: Similar to some others who purchased this to enable the use of their newer case with USB 3.0 front ports on an older motherboard that only had USB 2.0 connections, I needed this to save me from an expensive motherboard replacement (or from having useless front USB ports) when I accidentally bent a pin on the motherboard. I was able to use this as a jumper from the USB 3.0 front port cable to a different slot on the motherboard designated for a USB 2.0 connection. I won't get the benefits of USB 3.0, but that's my own fault, at least my front USB ports work with this.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works.

Cons: A small amount of research and a soldering iron can make this obsolete.

5 out of 5 eggsI can dig it

Pros: This device allows you to utilize front panel USB 3.0 ports as USB 2.0 ports at USB 2.0 speeds.

Cons: Cable can be a little stiff.

Other Thoughts: My mobo predates USB 3.0, but my case is newer and has two 3.0 ports. I don't have any USB 3.0 devices, so instead of getting a 3.0 add in card I opted to buy this adapter so that I could utilize the extra ports.

Using the adapter the ports behave exactly as USB 2.0 ports would. I have seen no issues with speed or compatibility, and the ports are used almost daily.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: Had a case with front panel usb 3.0 but the motherboard didnt have usb 3.0 connector. So i bought this and it worked like a charm. No problems, Great Product.

Cons: None

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you very much for purchasing a SilverStone product. For connecting front panel USB 3.0 ports, you may alternatively get EC01-P or EC04-P if you have a free PCI Express slot on your motherboard. This way you can run your front panel USB 3.0 ports at full speed instead of USB 2.0 speed:
