1 out of 5 eggsfor the idiot from Thermaltake

Pros: Again, the 8-pin adapter is great. Newegg rocks, fast shipping and friendly customer support.

Cons: 24-pin adapter is awesome if somehow your computer can operate without that 24th pin.

I don't want to start a review war here but I find it extremely troubling that A) manufacturers feel it more important to defend their products than to state the facts and that B) they post inaccurate information for such a purpose.

Other Thoughts: Current motherboards (ESPECIALLY high-end DFI boards) use the -5VSB rail to provide power to Stand-By devices such as keyboards and mice to keep them active while the computer is in Suspend mode, so they can wake the computer. Many boards (especially DFI brand) specify in the manual 3+ amps on this rail as being crucial to not only general stability but to passing a POST.

Furthermore, were the "white wire" not important, it would NOT have been implemented in the NEWEST ATX STANDARDS, as obsolete technologies are removed with each update... Heard of ISA slots and AT PSU's anyone?

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The 8pin cable works just fine.

Cons: The 24pin cable is, uh, 23pin? They left out the white -5vSB wire that caused ridiculous stability problems with my DFI LP DK P35. Maybe some boards dont need that kind of voltage on the -5v rail but DFI boards do. Just a heads up.

Other Thoughts: Buy it for the 8pin, but the 23pin is useless.

Manufacturer Response:

The white wire is only for older CPUs and motherboards that use a -5v rail to operate. The -5v has not been in use in motherboards or CPUs since socket A was new. Motherboards and CPUs since socket A do not use the -5v.

4 out of 5 eggsgood quality

Pros: Works. Well made.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: make sure you have room for it. In hindsight I might have gone with a shorter cable/adapter since my PSU has a long power cable.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: This worked great for hooking up my power supply to my new motherboard. I had spent more to get a high-quality power supply a few years ago (I'm particular like that) and this was much cheaper than buying a new power supply.

Cons: clips were a bit difficult to get together, but nothing too difficult

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for What I* needed

Pros: Will adapt a 4 Pin Power Header to 8pin Server Power Header for those of you that have motherboards which require a Server Power input.

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsNot Necessary

Pros: It lengthened my main power wire and filled all open spaces on my new 680i LT motherboard's plugs.

Cons: It did nothing to improve my cpu or gpu *ahhem* improvements. I'm running my system at a little over stock speeds WITHOUT it. I believe I need a better psu.

Other Thoughts: Unless you need an extension don't bother with this adapter.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy installation, works well.

Cons: None really other then it was a little pricey for an adapter. But that's ok.

Other Thoughts: Worked out well as an extension in my CM Cosmos case.
