2 out of 5 eggsWorked - BUT

Pros: Easy install Win 7.
Kept an old printer going.

Cons: Worked very well , but for only 10 weeks..
Would no longer recognize the printer.

Other Thoughts: Sat on my shelf for over a year before I installed it. Failed shortly thereafter..
Just replaced it with another brand and the printer was instantly back online...

1 out of 5 eggsHELP!

Pros: none

Cons: Doesnt work on my 60 ft usb extension on my emulated epson printer any help from support would be great.. the printer will work for like an hour then needs to be rebooted

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

This cable is a plug-and-play adapter, so any connectivity issues are most likely caused by your specific system. Please make sure you have the necessary and required software installed for your particular printer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine -- Read My Notes!

Pros: Affordable, Perfect Length (5'), Quality Construction -- Read my notes* BEFORE buying to semi-guarantee an easy install

Cons: Includes a mini-CD with many, many folders... I found it useless and the file tree was confusing

Other Thoughts: Windows: 7 (64-bit)
Printer: HP 2230 Business InkJet

First, if you leave a review for this or other cables, please tell others what your set-up is - I installed it easily ONLY because 1 of 33 reviewers explained how to do so, thankfully! :)

Win7-x64 did not find my printer at all, but it knew I plugged the cable in (which verifies the cable works). So... power on your printer and plug the cable from printer to PC:

1) Control Panel --> Devices/Printers --> Add a printer
2) "Add a local printer"
3) "Use an existing port" --> Choose USB001 (Virtual)
4*) Choose your printer brand and model
5) Install and print test page

*IMPORTANT: At this point, Windows 7 had my HP printer listed, thank goodness. Before buying this cable, you may want to follow my install sequence to see if Windows 7 has your printer drivers pre-installed. If it does, this cable is much more likely to work for you. I suspect other Windows versions may follow the same logic.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy as Pie

Pros: Connected cable to HP LaserJet 6p, turned printer on, plugged into USB port on XP machine. XP automatically identified and setup printer. I was printing instantly, even across network. What a breeze! Love it when plug and play works! Thanks SYBA and Newegg!

Cons: zilch

Other Thoughts: I would recommend printer is turned on before connecting to USB port on computer.

5 out of 5 eggsI was wrong.

Pros: It works it just takes a while to figure out on windows 7 because they changed everything and is hard to adjust from xp. You plug the parallel end directly into the printer whereas I thought this was a DB-25 to usb instead of standard parallel. Also you have to go through the install printer list. It doesn't do it automatically when trying to set up your printer.

Cons: Not good enough user manuel, doesn't have good instructions. It just says the features.

Other Thoughts: I was wrong for rating it to fast. Please disregard the other review from me.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Hp Deskjet 940c

Pros: Great paperweight.

Cons: It doesn't work with our printer. It says usb to printer port and our printer didn't require any special adapter for our old computer it used the parallel port, however it doesn't work with this.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't not recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsVista Install

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do ...

Cons: SYBA tech support is out to lunch on this issue ...

Other Thoughts: For Vista machines, you must first download and install the MCS7715 "USB Compound Device" driver from www.moschip.com/html/download_drivers.html
During the install, Vista will twice prompt the familiar "This device driver is not Windows Vista certified" (by Microsoft) alert; go ahead and complete its installation. Next, attach the SYBA USB to Printer Port Adapter cable to your printer, turn the printer ON, and plug the USB cable into your machine. Vista should recognize your Printer and complete its installation to a "Virtual USB Port"... hope this helps.
