Inexpensive little adapter
- Pros: Inexpensive and easy way to add 1-2 CompactFlash cards onto a single IDE port. Plugs straight into motherboard. Supports UDMA (make sure your CompactFlash card supports it).
- Cons: Documentation is pretty lacking. I was banging my head for almost an entire day trying to figure out why it would find but not read my CF card until I plugged in a 4-pin Berg connector from my power supply into the pins sticking out the side of the adapter. Also doesn't feel like it seats entirely secure (wiggles quite a bit when plugged into the motherboard), but haven't had any issues yet with the CF card dropping out.
- Other Thoughts: I have been using this to run the OS drive on my file server running Debian. Had some issues initially with the boot-up taking ridiculously long (30 minutes) with Grub, but not sure if that's because of my CF card (4 GB SanDisk Extreme III) or the adapter. Switched to LILO and boot-up is now fast. It has been running great in my file server for the past 6 months.
I am only using one CF card on the master side currently, so I haven't tested the adapter with 2 cards installed yet.
It just doesn't work
- Pros: It plugs directly in the motherboard. That's about it.
- Cons: The IDE connector fits incredibly loose. The solder connections look like my first solder globs I made when I was 4 years old. Has a ton of "re-worked" spots, and they look even worse.
It would only think it saw the CF card if I had it on the slave side, but I was still unable to do anything with it as a disk, including formatting. In the BIOS, it shows up with garbage text as the disk name, making it look like a drive on it's last leg.
- Other Thoughts: This card is so bad, it could give you cancer just looking at it. I should have gotten the hint from the previous reviews.

Great Deal for the Price
- Pros: It's so much smaller than I expected. Beyond this, it has two ports, clear indications of jumper settings, and just plain works.
- Cons: It can be difficult to seat properly, and has given me occasional fits loading OS partitions, but nothing that couldn't be work-arounded.
- Other Thoughts: The packaging: Mine arrived with all the backside pins bent to hades and back because of how it is packaged. Fortunately I was able to straighten them all, and no real damage was done. And while this isn't Newegg's fault, it still costs a rating point.
