5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Windows 7

Pros: 1) Works as advertised. What more can you ask for this price . . . ?

Cons: 1) A little chunky around other USB devices

4 out of 5 eggsgood product

Pros: It works as advertised. Plug and play, no drivers necessary. Mic and headset inputs work on PC, volume button and mic mute button all work well. I can use my Beats By Dre Studio headphone with integrated wire mic, intended for use with a cell phone (sound input and mic output combined on shared wire) on my PC. All I needed was to buy an extra Y-splitter to split the mic and audio outputs from the headset into this device, and I can use my headset for online gaming.

Cons: 1) The volume is kind of loud. At the lowest setting, it's just a little louder than comfortable.
2) I intended to use my Beats Studio for my PS3 as well, but the PS3 does not output the sound to this device, so I have to connect my headset to the TV. The mic on the device works fine, but I have to get a separate mic for it.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Cheap, works without having to download any drivers. Have the option of using your speakers at the same time if you are on a laptop. The sound quality is decent.

Cons: Can stutter when playing youtube videos from chrome. I'm not 100% sure that it's not a software issue though so I won't complain too much.

Other Thoughts: I think that for a $10 usb sound card this is a great deal but don't expect to run high end speakers from this adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked great for Hackintosh build

Pros: These work great in a pinch if your Hackintosh audio simply will not be recognized.

Cons: It's a bit large for my taste, but there is also a smaller model that I will try next. No reason to deduct an egg that's for sure

Other Thoughts: I have done several Hackintosh builds but on my last two, the Realtek audio would not work, regardless of the kext I tried to use. This gave me the audio I needed, without requiring any setup. I would be comfortable shipping one of these to a remote client to 'repair' any audio issues they have in the future.

3 out of 5 eggsOk, cheap, but useful.

Pros: Readable by OSX, and Windows without drivers or any other software. Easy install, just plug-and-play.

Cons: Not very high quality microphone input. OK quality output. Note that it just simulates 7.1 surround. It's not true 7.1.

Other Thoughts: For the price, it's a good deal. What can you expect out of a USB sound card for $10?

3 out of 5 eggsA few days later...

Pros: USB connection works. So does volume control and mute.

Cons: Size of USB device blocks usage of multiple ports. Distortion is common, at times to the point where dialog is unintelligible. I checked the headset on another computer with the Sound Adapter and without and there was no fault with the headset. .I may have to look into purchasing another similar device. Some have mentioned that several USB devices connected at the same time would cause issues. The only other USB device plugged in is a Bluetooth receiver for the mouse.

Other Thoughts: Maybe you get what you pay for. Maybe there is substance to some negative reports. Always thought they were written by those who couldn't spell and didn't know how to either use, set up or purchased for the wrong purpose.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Needed to use headphone with microphone on laptop without mike jack (has built-in mike). Installed software of W7 - volume control and mute works on device. Don't know about 7.1 sound - don't think I have anything that has it or would know the difference if I heard it.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Inexpensive, seems to do the job, durability - only time will tell.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Awesome, Easy Install

Pros: Install was as easy as plugging it into the USB 2.0 port. No software install required for Windows XP Pro SP3. Inexpensive and good audio quality. Bought this to give my 8 yr old daughter sound again for her computer. She sheered off the integrated audio jack on her Pentium 4 3Ghz computer that I gave her as her own. I plugged this into a USB extension cable so that if she accidentally tugs at the headset or PC speakers again it will easily disconnect from USB connection. Fix then is just to plug back into USB extension cable. Has been working for almost a year now with no problems!!!

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for simple setups

Pros: No drivers needed for XP or Win7.
Works almost instantly.

Cons: Distortion when USB bus has a bunch of other devices being shared with device.

Lack of drivers also means manufacturer is unable to resolve compatibility issues, like above.

Volume buttons are pretty much useless.

Other Thoughts: Ran back and forth with support on resolving my issue, which turned out to be related to my system having too many USB devices.

They were helpful but did not take responsibility in the fact that it is a hardware/design issue on their part, not my system.

When I first plugged it in, it was working. As soon as I added more USB devices to my system, it caused audio to start distort. After a bunch of troubleshooting I found that if I had more than a few devices plugged into my USB bus, this problem would occur.

It wasn't a conflict with a specific one either, which I initially thought.

I also found through USBView tool that the device only runs at USB1.1 speeds even when plugged into a USB2.0 high speed capable port.
