1 out of 5 eggsfragile flimsy piece of cr@p

Pros: don't know. it broke on my as i was installing it.

Cons: As mentioned above. this thing is so flimsy. the connectors for the SATA power and data is so weak and fragile, it fell off as i was installing it on my computer. Also, this thing is over packaged. so much stupid plastic to protect this fragile garbage.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None.

Cons: I hate talking bad about something, but this thing is really a flimsy piece of junk. The SATA connector is way too easy to break off, which is what happened with me. I didn't even get a chance to fire it up and see if it actually functions. I guess I should've tried taping down the connector the moment I noticed how weakly it was attached to the PCB. But really, I shouldn't even have to do that. Syba needs to rethink the design on this one.

Spend a little extra for the other CF-to-SATA adapters available from NewEgg. Or just be aware that the SATA connector on this thing is EXTREMELY weak and will easily come off.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Bought it to use in a PCH-A110, and it works perfectly. Paired it with an 8GB CF card.

Cons: It seems a little flimsy, but since it's going into the PCH and not being removed, I think it's fine.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked OK

Pros: Shows up as a fixed device when used with 'fixed mode compatible' CF cards. Works pretty fast ~20mb/s with 133x cards. Low cost compared to other Sata to CF adapters.

Cons: Unit failed after about a month of useage. The PC no longer recognizes that a card is plugged in.

Other Thoughts: We tried the Addonics adsahdcf adapter and gained another ~10mb/s speed with the same CF cards.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This little bugger works perfectly. It's being used to run my webserver, and I cant complain.

Cons: Mounting was a bit of a problem. I ended up just letting it hang where the cords set it as there's no way to screw in from the side.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It does what it says it does. Compact flash is nice for an os, even for a desktop or server, if you use linux or freebsd. These are small enough to fit side by side on top of a 3.5 hard drive so with some hotglue or double sided tape you can easily fit these in any case. Especially with the rise of the slim 3.5 drives (all the new seagate 80-500gb's are slim)
Even has a nice red activity light, you could rig up a light pipe easily with these.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsA Happy Customer

Pros: I have the device and it works great. It was plug and play with a 4gb 133x kinston cf card (Newegg product N82E16820134575). It just shows up in the bios as a 4 gigabyte hard drive. I am using it in a self built media server build to run the os (Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit). It is a budget adapter, and I am using a budget cf card, but I am incredibly impressed with its performance. It is as least as good as the old super noisy 40gig drive I was using before (but it is silent).

Cons: My first one was defective and I wasted hours of time trying to get it to work. It showed up in the bios the very first time I booted with it, then never again. No combination of sata ports or cables would change that. Lesson learned... For you guys with a similar problem, the red led on the card means it is getting power and the green one is the activity light. If the green one isn't lighting up, you have a problem. No stars off though because I was so impressed with SYBA's customer service. Also in buying a budget product, I know there is a chance of failure. I did not expect top of the line because I didn't pay for it.

Other Thoughts: For a company that produces budget products, SYBA's customer support is incredible! Maybe the best I have ever dealt with. I sent them my first support email expecting to hear back days later, and got a reply within an hour. My customer support representative Michael (us.sybia.com), was incredibly prompt with his responses, and even got the part express shipped (Saturday delivery) so I could have it sooner. I had my replacement approximately a week after I shipped the bad one back.

Thank you so much Michael!

4 out of 5 eggsNice boot disk adapter

Pros: combined with a 4Gb Transcend 266X Compact Flash chip, this makes a very fast, cool and quiet SATA boot disk . This puppy is mounted inside a low power MSI Wind box (60-70W) with no other CDROM/DISK devices, and a low power 1.6 Gb CPU. It contains the boot image for a MythTV FrontEnd.

Cons: fragile construction; easily damaged if careless removal of either connector and/or CF chip.

Other Thoughts: I am thinking about adding superglue or epoxy drops around the CF and SATA connectors on the PC board for a more robust unit. This guy should also be mounted with standoff screws upon some sturdy larger backing material like a bare chunk of PC board.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: Broken SATA connector. Overheats.

Other Thoughts: I now have 2 of these. The first one arrived with the SATA connector broken off of the board. Newegg replaced it for me. (Thanks.) The second one smells like its burning and the board gets very hot. I re-soldered the connector on the first one and it gets very hot also. Very disappointing.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat harddrive replacement

Pros: I am using this for connection with a sata port on an asus mobo to a 4 gb cf card. It works great. It is for mythtv frontend. The backend hosts and stores all the files so I dont need lots of storage on the system.

Cons: none
