5 out of 5 eggsGreat splitter option at a great price

Pros: Anywhere I have two fans next to each other (top of case, side of case), I use one of these in-line to my fan controller. That way I have the same power going to each fan. This splitter is solid and does exactly what I need.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I needed

Pros: I bought this cable so I can hook up two fans onto a single fan controller. It works just as I expected. It was actually so good that I bought a second one when I purchased another fan for my system. Now I have two of these cables with three fans all hooked up to one fan controller.

Cons: Like what was said in the previous reviews, two fans cannot be hooked up to a single fan header on the motherboard. If you have basic knowledge with electrical wiring, you will notice that there are two yellow wires that will connect fan1 and fan2 to a single fan header on the motherboard. Some motherboards may have problems, and some won't.

You can cut one of the yellow wires, but in my case I left it. It doesn't seem to be affecting my system in a major way.

Other Thoughts: It's a cable, what more is there to say? It does exactly what I want it to and I will be purchasing more in the future.

4 out of 5 eggs50/50

Pros: Cheap (with free shipping), Does what it's supposed to, for the most part. I can plug my exhaust fan and my nb heatsink fan into the same mobo header.

Cons: None really. See below.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these and like some other reviews have said, you have to cut the yellow wire on one to be able to get an accurate rpm reading to the mobo (otherwise it sends two signals). With my first one of these, I snipped one yellow wire, threw some electrical tape on the ends just for good measure, and it worked perfectly! I ordered a second one and for some reason when I cut the yellow line, neither fan worked. I did some testing and it turned out to be the connector where both wires go to the mobo - it was shorting out a little. I forced both wires into the connector a little better, then plugged it in to the mobo and it works just fine now. Small hassle - minus one egg for that and for the fact that you have to cut a wire to make it work properly (kind of nit picky though - they really do what they are supposed to just fine). Other than that it has served its function.

4 out of 5 eggsGood options for older Motherboards with 1 fan header

Pros: Splits one standard 3-pin fan header into two, making one able to run a case can and a heatsink fan off the same header, for instance, which is what I was looking to do while making some mods to a Dell Dimension 2400. Price is dirt cheap. 9 times out of 10 if I'm looking for an adapter I've always been able to find it on Newegg.

Cons: I was reading reviews on another vendor's website about this product and someone made an interesting point that both ends of the Y (the male ends) have yellow data transmission cables, which he claimed doesn't make sense because you can't send and receive RPM data to the motherboard with two fans on the same header, which facilitates the necessity to clip one of the yellow wires. I contacted Syba and they confirmed the same thing. Seems weird.

I still need to try this. It's recommendable before you clip the yellow data wire to make sure the adapter is working on both ends. If it doesn't, you've probably just thrown your money away unless you have knowledge of wire splicing (all of a few dollars, nothing bad at all)

Other Thoughts: I give it 4 eggs out of 5, (1) because of the extra seemingly unnecessary data cable, and (2) my general frustration when I looked at the motherboard of the Dimension 2400 to find out Dell manufactured the board with a non-standard 3-pin header, make this adapter useless by itself. Don't know if this is still the case (probably not), and not the fault of the adapter obviously...I'm waiting for an adapter which turns a Dell 3-pin header to a standard header make so I can make use of this adapter. Moral of the story: Do your homework...

5 out of 5 eggswork great

Pros: work great. powering 4 fans on one header with 3 of these

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: to get accurate rpm readings you need to use all the same kind of fan
