5 out of 5 eggsWhat a neat gaget !

Pros: Did the job, was able to use hardrives that are larger that 300 gig ( can't get much bigger with IDE cable )

Cons: Too many hardrives .Now i'll have to get a larger pc case ! LOL (already in the works )

Other Thoughts: saw other ones that fasten to the back of the hardrive- but with this -its like two for the price of one

1 out of 5 eggsSYBA IDE to DUAL aDAPTER

Pros: NONE

Cons: Never worked finally had to return it for credit. Relaced this one for the 2 device product for $29.95 this one has worked fine. The only fault is it will not fit tight in the socket.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks exactly liked i hoped for dvd burner

Pros: Easy to install, just open up the case, and pushed the little gadet inot the ide slot, i tested on passmark test actually scored higher than dvd drive connected motherboard sata port. cheap, looks a little delicate, but i like the design, not really big. like i said cheap has two sata ports

Cons: none that i can think of for what i wanted it for

Other Thoughts: I have an msi 880gm-e43, it has 5 sata 2 ports. i have one 60gb patriot solid drive for os, two muskins, stipped raid sofware 60 gb, and two mechanical drives, 500gbs, soft raid at 7200rpm, i needed an extra sata port for dvd player, this worked perfect, i would recommend. I never though i would find use for this ide port. i was looking for other controllers, but they where asking to much.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with ICH10 based MB

Pros: Has two SATA ports

Cons: 1. None works.
2. The power connector provided is incorrect one. This is female connector or simply put same as regular power supply molex connector. So how do they expect it to connect to power supply?
3.Does not work with any setting for IDE controller in the Mobo.

Other Thoughts: As I stated power connector is incorrect, so to fix that issue I had to buy a molex connector which accepts molex connectors are both sides(or male on both sides).

This did provided the power to the module and red led glows. But none of the SATA drives I have are recognized in either SATA ports. I even tried connecting 2 drive hoping atleast one will work.Nope.

I tried to use this for ZFS build as I am using all 6 SATA ports for main data pool and I need at least one SATA for OS drive on Asrock G43Full HD motherboard. I tried to use SSD SATA drive which did not work, then tried several drives, none worked. None are recognized in bios with any IDE settings. I ended up using old IDE drive without this convertor.

It is a waste of money for this convertor, waste of money for dual-molex connector, and more so is several hours of my time.

Please stop selling this junk.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsPlug and play - almost

Pros: Works perfectly once installed (including providing power to the board). Fits perfectly in an old HP-E42 box which i use for a home server. Using under Windows XP Pro 32-bit. Disk access light on the system box works for me.

Cons: Male power connector intended to connect to system power is fairly useless - it is the wrong gender. I took the time to cut it off and provide power by soldering the wires to another connector (this system has limited space). Would be 5 stars if a true "pass-thru" power connector was provided.

Other Thoughts: Gives new life to a 5+ year old HP-E42 which is used as a home server. I took the time to wire the second sata port to provide a new esata port on the back panel to make backups to an external drive much easier. Performance hit? the system feels no slower than it was - so is fine with me. Using with a Seagate Barracuda Green ST1500DL003 1.5TB 5900 RPM SATA drive.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as stated

Pros: It works !
Allows both master and slave drives on a standard or Ultra 133 IDE. Was able to load OS without a problem.

Cons: Speed lowers due to not recognizing an 80 pin IDE cable.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these and they work out of the box.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: does what its supposed to. its better then the Rosewill RC-A-SATA-IDE SATA to IDE Adapter as it has 2 sata ports and its cheaper!

Cons: should be a male molex power adapter as it wasnt compatible with my power supply connectors as they too are male but luckily i had some adapters lyin around.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great supporting a server boot volume!

Pros: Product exceeded my performance expectations. I'm booting from it with a set of mirrored SATA drives and it performs fine without any lockups or hitches. With that said remember you only have at most 133MB (depending on the interface it could be less) of bandwidth on a PATA to play with, so your expectations must be with in that.

Cons: I can't think of any. It does what it should and any problems you may run into would be the fault of the installer/user. Obviously if your performance expectations are that you are going to have 6Gbit of bandwidth you're going to be very unhappy, or if you haven't taken the time to know whether or not the item will fit in the location you're installing... But these are not the fault of the device. Other than that it lets you hook two SATA drives up to a PATA interface and it will even boot! Can't be unhappy about that!

Other Thoughts: I bought this adapter because I was building a Solaris ZFS NAS and I needed all of my SATA ports for the actual storage pool. I wanted to run the boot volume in a mirror but I didn't need a lot of bandwidth. So I bought this and two WD 2.5" 80GB caviar blue drives. I was a little worried about the performance due to other reviews, but it turns out this thing works beautifully. The machine boots quickly, not that I boot it all that often, and it launches applications without a hitch, even with the overhead of running a mirror off the shared interface! I would highly recommend this product to someone whose application is not performance driven, such as booting a server where all the main data is stored else where, or running a backup device, etc. Don't buy this with the idea that you can run faster SATA drives on your PATA bus and that you're going to get better than PATA performance.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's supposed to

Pros: Easy installation with no configuration required. BIOS recognized it immediately with no problems. Works exactly as advertised.

Cons: Could pose an installation problem for folks with hard drives or other components overhanging the IDE port. Also, watch out for cables leaning against the adapter. The fit isn't really too snug, so it tends to lean if pushed.

Other Thoughts: Great way to use up that unused IDE port on your motherboard, especially if your board has only two SATA ports.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct did not work at all

Pros: Easily plugged into the 40 pin slot

Cons: Power adapter cable has a large female end and is USELESS for plugging into/adapting from standard power supply. Adjusted bios every which way possible auto/large/lba/cha. Does not recognize external HD. System recognizes drive through USB port with no problems.

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 64 bit OS, Custom built AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core Processor, 4GB memory,
