1 out of 5 eggsStill?? Really guys??

Pros: Connects & powers SLIM OPTICAL DRIVES I suppose.

Cons: Pathetic company handling of product description on retail sites like this. They've STILL not corrected the product description/details here on Newegg. As of today(mid-May), it STILL reads:
"This cable enables SATA connection to work on mSATA (Mini SATA) devices such as SSD."

BUT their responses to other reviews insist that:
"This adapter was originally designed for slim optical SATA devices. This cable cannot provide the same connections as a mSATA card, because the connection needs a chipset to support a Disk connection."

Their response to a January review indicated that they would "change the description again." ... yeah right.

Other Thoughts: Even IF this product works the way it was "originally designed", what kind of quality control or customer support can you possibly expect from a group like this? Can they not work well enough with retail companies to get a simple detail made accurate, or perhaps just figure it's easier to leave it and make quick review responses instead?? Whatever the issue, it's pathetic on an epic scale for any group to call themselves a business and fail in such a simple, silly way. -sighs shaking head-

SYBA, please do NOT make another review response UNTIL the detail has been properly amended. Doing otherwise only brings you more shame & makes us sick. Thanks.

-Frost

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't fit

Pros: None -

Cons: Does not fit Crucial MSATA drive. That's what it's supposed to be for.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the confusion. This adapter was originally designed for slim optical SATA devices. This cable cannot provide the same connections as a mSATA card, because the connection needs a chipset to support a Disk connection.

Perhaps we need a more specific title for this product and what it supports.

We apologize for the misinterpretation of our product.

Thank you for leaving us your valuable feedback.

Regards, SYBA CST 04232013

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It arrived quick.

Cons: Haven't found any yet.

Other Thoughts: Plugged it in and it worked. After a couple of months of heavy use (I use it for my BD-ROM) nothing of note has happened.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit mSATA SSD drives.

Pros: I'm a tech and can use it on a mini optical drive

Cons: Another review said "Does not fit mSATA SSD drives."
Manufacturer Response was: "Dear Dave,

We are sorry for the confusion. This adapter was originally designed for slim optical SATA devices. At the time, there were no mSATA SSD on the market, and the mini SATA was used to identify such slim SATA connector.

Since then, we have updated our product description to slim SATA cable. We hope this will clear everything up and avoid future misunderstandings.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused to you. We stride in our customers' satisfaction."
---------------------------------------
If you updated your product description then how do you explain the line in your ad that reads "This cable enables SATA connection to work on mSATA (Mini SATA) devices such as SSD" on the Newegg site.

Other Thoughts: Manufacturer needs to change their ad description.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

The department who updated those descriptions might have made a mistake confusing optical drives with SSD.

We apologize for any issues that you are having.

We will change the description again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for its intended purpose.

Pros: It's a cable, and the thing connected to it (SATA optical drive) works.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought this cable/adaptor to install a slim, slot-load DVD drive in my desktop computer. Since the drive works perfectly, I'm not sure what more to comment on.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed for Slimline SATA DVD in mini-ITX case

Pros: Exactly what I needed for an OEM slimline SATA DVD-RW drive for a mini-ITX case (Silverstone SG05BB-450).

Cons: Be aware that this cable will be a bit long if you're using it in a small case (HTPC/mini-ITX), so bundle it up & make sure it doesn't block any fans.

Other Thoughts: Of course, I wish Silverstone just included this cable with their case, but I guess every $ helps their bottom line.

Side note: I'm not sure why Newegg uses DHL/USPS to ship small items (low-cost and/or low weight). I've already paid several bucks for the shipping - why not just use UPS Ground? It took 4 days longer than UPS (which is only a day from the warehouse where they shipped it).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works well in my mini-ITX custom built PC. I hooked this up from the motherboard tot he slim DVD-R drive. Works fine, good cable length for smaller cases - not too much extra slack.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsworks good

Pros: This thing works good for the newer slim dvd/bluray drives if you wanted to use them in a desktop. good price, consider what a local shop or best buy would charge for something like this........YIKES!

Cons: The cable was long, they should have considered what most people would be using this for, mITX builds. having this folded up cable eating up my space sucks but really, its not that big of a deal. could be my fault maybe there was other shorter ones had a looked.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for mSATA

Pros: Decent quality connectors for its intended purpose.

Cons: I purchased this product under the impression that this fit a mSATA solid state drive. Based on the picture it looks proportionally correct. Once I had this in my hands, however, I realized this does not fit a mSATA connector.

Other Thoughts: The description of this item is a bit misleading. In the end it was easier to give this item to a friend who could use it, rather than to go trough the return process over something so inexpensive.
