3 out of 5 eggscables too short

Pros: It works

Cons: The USB and audio cable is too short to use for a laptop without extensions. What were they thinking? This adapter is probably most used for a laptop. The audio, in particular, needs generally to go all the way in the front. So it is shy of only 1 inch because they were to cheap to even add a full 12 inches. Actually, I needed just 1 more inch on the audio and it would have fit. I even needed an extension to reach the USB port

Other Thoughts: I gave it 3 eggs because of the short cables but it does work. So now you have to pay for more cables when $25 is enough anyway.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for the issues you have experienced with this adapter.

Please note that laptops come in all different sizes, ports are located in different positions, and each manufacturer will change the design of their laptops randomly.

This device has been given enough slack in the cables to support multiple types of laptops. The specified length is to ensure that the cables are not overtly long to avoid any signal loss.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

4 out of 5 eggsworks as advertised

Pros: works perfectly to connect a dell laptop to a Samsung TV as a second monitor.

Cons: took a few times to realize that it mattered what order I plugged each piece in to get the laptop to recognize the proper resolution for the TV. VGA into laptop, then USB into laptop, then HDMI into the adapter. any other sequence and the laptop tried to force a non native resolution on the TV.

1 out of 5 eggsNot the best

Pros: - It turns on

Cons: - The cable for the audio is short
- I have a 42inch screen and it doesn't even fit the full screen

Other Thoughts: Save yourself the money and don't waste it on this thing, I'd rather buy a whole laptop with HDMI than getting this thing, I had to buy a audio cable extender (male to female) because the it comes with is too short

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for your dissatisfaction with the quality of this adapter.

The adapter is designed to function with multiple systems and the orientation of their audio, USB, and VGA connections. We understand that not all systems are alike however the cable should provide enough length for many systems while still remaining compact.

Check that the resoluton of your HDTV is supported by the adapter. You can also find many troubleshooting tips for this device on our website.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

4 out of 5 eggsSYBA VGA to HDMI Converter

Pros: It works. I think HDTV I'm using as a monitor,, like all HDTV's?, prefer signals coming through an HDMI port. I think the picture is better than going through the PC port on a t.v.. The picture is as good as it's going to get on a 32" 720p HDTV.

You should remember to change the display from the highest one which the adapter seems initially set to be its default, to what is best for your t.v., which is usually 1360x768 for a 720p t.v.. I had over-scan when I first turned the computer on. With my computer I was really over-driving the audio, so I had to really crank down the audio because of original distortion. It was fine after that.

Connection was simple, my computer recognized there was a converter on it. The audio output wasn't far from the video connector on my desktop.

The converter seems to be well-built. It has indicator lights? It's in the back of my desktop, so if I'm not getting a picture I can easily determine what isn't working.

Long video/audio cable lengths are possible with HDMI besides.

Cons: Unfortunately, I had read the negative review. But I also seem to get the additional sound, whine? at the beginning of use rather than later on. I was rather surprised by this because I have a Syba USB to an audio in and audio out ports adapter, and there are no audio artifacts when using that..

I will think about using the audio system I bought for using with the computer and see if the picture and sound source are too far apart for me to do that, if the whine bothers me. It is less noise than the computer itself makes and iit's not loud at all, so doesn't interfere with wanted audio out of the computer. In my case it seems to get less the longer the computer is on.

I just as soon it didn't take up a USB socket for power, but for me that was no deal breaker.

Other Thoughts: To be fair, while I bought this awhile back, I only had it up and working since last night. So, if the whine goes away completely or get louder through the months--or just stays the same--I really don't know. I consider it a minor design flaw for my purposes. with a WiFi keyboard with trackpad, I find it a handy way to remotely control a computer.
