Question 1

Hello,
My Toshiba laptop has a VGA plug, and my new TV has an HDMI plug. Is this all I would need to play movies and videos from my laptop onto my computer? Also, how long is the cord, as it looks rather short and I don't know if it would reach to the laptop if they were set up side by side. Thank you kindly!

You would also need a regular HDMI cable to go between the tv and the little black box which has an HDMI female on the end. That would add 3,6, or more feet in between. Also you would need to make sure that the distance from your USB/VGA is not very far from you earphone out. Otherwise you would need to get a double ended male earphone cord like the kind used from an iPod to your aux in that most vehicles have. Other that that it works pretty good that I noticed so far. After you hook it up give it a couple seconds for the light to turn blue and ur in business

It looks as though, I will still need a 10 or 12 foot VGA extended cable to use my lap top from my desk to my Samsung TV about 10 feet away?
Am I on the right track?

My Laptop has USB pots, and 1 VGA output port.

TV has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 USB input and several single audio and video jacks.

This works perfectly! Great product! I use it (almost) daily. It transfers the laptop audio and visual to your TV screen and TV speakers.

TV must have an open HDMI port. Laptop must have a VGA port, USB port and a headphone jack. (Note: The headphone jack on your laptop needs to be close to your VGA, or you will need a small audio extension cable.) You must purchase an HD HDMI cable that is long enough to reach between your laptop (sofa) and your TV!

Just plug your laptop into an AC outlet, then attach this converter plus your new HDMI cable (between your TV and this product). Turn your TV on and set it to HDMI-2 (or whatever port you have your HDMI cable plugged into on your TV). Then, on your laptop, hold down the blue "Fn" key while you push "F7" (or whatever key has an icon of a monitor on it). Select the option to "duplicate" the image. Turn your laptop volume up about 3/4 of the way. Presto! Now, everyone in the room can see and hear whatever is on your laptop! It's wonderful!

I have an older comp.,it has a vga output my tv is hdmi and also 25ft. away from the cpu. My question is this,will I have to purchase an additional 25ft. 3.5 mm male to male for audio from the tv or are there other options that could help my? I'm on a very limited income and anything I can save is beneficial,thanks in advance Carl.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are asking whether or not you require an additional 25 ft audio cable, along with a 25ft HDMI. The answer to that question is no. The single HDMI cable transfers both video and audio. If, however, you are asking if you need a 25ft (or longer) HDMI cable, you absolutely do. This adapter does not come with an HDMI cable, it only connect a male to male HDMI, to a VGA input on your computer.

I've been using it to play DVD's/Movies from my computer on my TV, and it works fine. However, the attached audio cable (that plugs into your computer) may not be long enough to reach the audio port, and still reach a USB port at the same time. I had to buy a female to male audio extender to fix this.

The item description says 8", and having handled two of these, that sounds about right. You will definitely want to make sure your HDMI cable is long enough, don't rely on the built-in cables for any appreciable extra length.

I have a Plasma TV that has an HDMI input, but does NOT have a VGA input. Would I be able to hook up my laptop to my TV with this product?

Although I do not have a plasma tv, all i need to use this 4 plug addaptor is an hdmi cable, from the "flat" connector shown, and into the tv. mine is sharp flat, but it works great. I always have to figure the TV's input selection on menu, but it's easy to select, or trial and error. but it's great as I can put netflix on tv, etc. or anything on my laptop.

Will this converter work to connect a new dell computer with hdmi port to an older model dell projector with a VGA male port?

we hook ours up to the VGA or DVI (with adapter) connection on the computer and the HDMI on television screens. the USB connector that is attached to the VGA connector is what powers the device and has to be plugged in for it to work. Because of that I'm guessing it won't work for what you described. However I can say that everyone that has used it here in the office is very pleased with it. Simple to use and good quality images.

I have an older TV with no HDMI inputs but it has a VGA input for HD. I have a new Bluray player that only has HDMI output. will this item allow me to play the bluray on the TV?

You will need an HDMI cable. Note: You will not get a picture on your tv until your operating system loads and finishes booting!

I'm going to use it for a PC to TV, I see the audio is attached to VGA end and the reviews are saying is short, 
in the connection the audio cable will be connect to the PC or TV?
if it's the TV and does not reach, can I use a longer audio cable by itself and leave that without connecting it?
will it work?

The audio will connect to the PC.  This converter takes the audio and VGA outputs from the PC.  Then combines the AV to output from the HDMI into the TV.

Question 10

I would like to use this converter without connecting the audio plug to my computer (only the VGA), preferring to use my computer's audio system instead.  Would doing so disrupt the video signal to the TV?

It works fine. The output from your PC is still from VGA, not HDMI, so the HDMI sound controller will not kick in. Your computer won't even know you are using HDMI... hence requiring you to plug in the audio plug in the first place.
