5 out of 5 eggsIt's fast!

Pros: Plug and Play!
Just screw it in and plug it into your 3.0 port on the MoBo and you are good to go! (make sure you have USB3.0 installed)
Super fast!

Cons: Short cable. I have a small case and the location of the 3.0 on my MoBo was close to the front of the case, which really helped otherwise it could have been too short

5 out of 5 eggsworks as expected

Pros: works perfectly in a mid tower case. USB 3.0 speeds. Stable transfers. Easy install. Internal connector allows a front connector panel for up to four USB 3.0 slots.

Cons: cable may be a bit short on full tower cases.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to set the motherboard's BIOS to allow this card to get the bandwidth it needs from the PCI express slot. If you are running dual graphics cards you may not have any bandwidth to spare. Don't forget to install the drivers.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks after modification

Pros: The cable worked just fine and had more than enough extra length to go the distance in my ATX case.

Cons: It was difficult to get the front face flush with my case. I had to bust out a drill and make some extra holes in my 3.5 bay to accommodate the mounting bracket of the device.

The metal is thin and malleable, if you have problems installing the face to the normal mounting brackets don't force it. It will bend

Other Thoughts: this device should work great. I have yet to test the transfer speeds, but am confident there will not be an issue.

I like the extra insulated cable.

For the $$ it was worth it

4 out of 5 eggsServes its purpose

Pros: Gave me two USB 3.0 connections on the front of my venerable and much liked case. So it works as advertised.

Cons: I had to bend the front panel to line up flush with my case. Took an Egg off because of this and mostly Other Thoughts.

Other Thoughts: After installing it my mobo identified it as a lower speed connection. Once I rebooted USB 3.0 all the way. Tested it and the numbers matched front to back all connections. Took an Egg off because of the aforementioned reason up top and it only has an 18 inch cable. I had no problems with my mid tower case and a mobo with the USB connector on the middle front edge. But if your USB3 connector is on the under side of your video card slot, bottom edge of your mobo or you have a full tower case it may not reach.

5 out of 5 eggsUSB 3.0 Front Panel Ports

Pros: Works great. Installed with Intel DH87MC motherboard to provide front panel USB 3.0 ports. USB Cables long enough to attach to USB 3.0 ports on motherboard. Installed in full tower case and uses 3.5" front panel slot (floppy drive size).

Cons: No downsides so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat USB 3.0 front Panel

Pros: Plugged directly into the main board, I am now getting faster Read/Write speeds from this Front Panel than the rear USB 3.0 ports. Luv this Front Panel!

3 out of 5 eggsWhat the?

Pros: USB 3 on the front of my old case

Cons: Depending on what I plug in on the left hand side I get an error from Windows 7. I have not got an error yet on the right side.
The error says 'One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it.'
If I unplug the 'malfunctioned' device and plug it into the right hand side it always works.
??? Not sure if it could be this item, my motherboard, OS, or all of the above.

Other Thoughts: For an item that is not too expensive it is not really worth shipping back for a replacement - I don't use the front USB a lot so I guess I can get by with just the one consistently working port, but obviously I'd prefer both worked, but it's not worth the hassle.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 1. Saved me a lot of work when the front USB 3.0 ports on my case stopped working. I just disconnected the built-in case ports and installed this - instead of having to disassemble my relatively new build and send the case back for an RMA exchange.

2. The fit/feel of the 20-pin motherboard connector is solid when connected to the motherboard. The fit/feel of USB devices connecting to the front USB ports is solid (once I got them working – see: Cons.)

Cons: 1. When I first got this device I could not insert any USB device/cable into the front ports. Since the dual-port USB cable/connector is connected to the back of the faceplate by a couple of screws, I loosened the screws and tried adjusting/realigning the fit. The best I could do still left me with having to apply too much force to insert anything into either USB port. It looked like the 2-port connector was slightly warped, so I removed the connector from the faceplate, rotated it 180-degrees and reconnected it. Perfect fit, except for the fact that the ports are now “upside-down.” That’s not a big deal to me, and not worth the postage and hassle to RMA it.

2. The two USB ports are a bit too close to each other. I have a couple of fairly thin, duplicate, ADATA USB 3.0 flash drives. When they are plugged-in next to each other on my Lenovo laptop, they fit perfectly and there is about 1/8-inch of space between them. However, when both flash drives are plugged-in next to each other on the SYBA device on my desktop, they physically ram into each other, and neither drive is perpendicular to the case; the end of each drive is angled out, slightly. They both work okay in this configuration, but these ports should have a wider space between them.

Other Thoughts: In spite of my negative experiences, these ports have worked well during my two months of ownership. The price for this device seems to fluctuate a bit.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Sounds like one of our assembly line workers fall to sleep during product assembly. We have checked our inventory on hand, and they are correctly assembled. Hope this is just a one time mistake on our assembly line.

Regarding the port distance, these ports should have a wider space between them. We will pass this note on to our engineer. In our next version, the wider space will be considered.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback. We value all positive and negative feedback.

Our technical support team is available to help 9am-5pm M-F. Feel free to contact us during those business hours at support@sybausa.com
