1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None.

Cons: 3 of 3 cables were no good, re-terminated ends and they worked.

Other Thoughts: Avoid these cables, their testing standards must be really low.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid like anthrax

Pros: It's got copper in it.

Cons: 5 of 5 cables failed - two would not link at any speed, two would only link at 100Mbit, and one would only link at 10Mbit. This is on brand-new GS105 switches ordered with the cables. A quality *CAT5* cable links at gigabit speed on exactly the same ports that *every* *single* *one* of these cables failed. Can't get much lower than zero percent success.

Other Thoughts: I got a 25' LinkDepot CAT6 cable at the same time. That one works a treat; links at gigabit speed fine as you please. NONE of the 10' "CAT6" cables work at speed. (shrug) Can't explain that one. I have 4 3' patch cables that should arrive tomorrow. I sure hope they fare better than these trashy things. I would give these 10' cables negative eggs if I could.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: It is black and feels sturdy

Cons: This cable arrived DOA. I had no lights blinking on the back of the motherboard indicating even a 10/100 connection. Upon booting up, the light indicating a connection on my D-Link DGS-2208 went dead. Once I plugged in my old CAT5E cable, everything was okay.

The boot covering the release tab is extremely stiff. I had to unplug the USB devices around my network port on my motherboard so I could get pliers in there to get this off.

This is really annoying to me because when you're crawling around underneath your desk you don't really have a lot of room to work with and can't be getting out the pliers every time you disconnect your network cable to move your computer when you dust, add new hardware, take your rig to a LAN party, etc.

Other Thoughts: Even if this cable did work I would still only give it 3 eggs because of how stiff the boot over the release tab is.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap solid cable

Pros: Solidly built
High Quality
Network Performance increased over mix-match of cables I had before
The boot mentioned in the CONs section ensures you will never break the tabs.

Cons: The boot over the release tab is pretty stiff, it hurts when pulling the cable out. Some pliers could solve that.

Other Thoughts: I bought two lengths of cables from this series and am quite happy with them. I bought them along with a D-Link DGS-2208 8-port switch and my network has been performing much better.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a cable!

Pros: Well, first off, its a high quality, black cable. Good stuff

Cons: None, its a cable, and it works flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: Could have shielded tips.. But I knew it didn't have it when I ordered, so I am not going to complain.

2 out of 5 eggsMiswired

Pros: Overall construction is sturdy. Past experience has been very positive.

Cons: Jacket has a hard plastic feel.
Both of these that I ordered came miswired (split-pairs, wired WO-O-WG-G-WBL-BL-WBR-BR, instead of standard 568B) which is unacceptable for GbE (gigabit ethernet).

Other Thoughts: I gave it 2-eggs because I do not want to assume that they are all bad. I have ordered several cables of this brand and length (different color) and they have all been supurb and I was satisfied enough to buy these. Someone must have been asleep on this batch.

3 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Secure connections.

Cons: DOA... Oh well.

Other Thoughts: Bought this 10FT, along with the 5FT version. Comparing the 5Ft to the 10FT and it turns out they are two different cables. The 10FT has a thicker shielding and the connections are a little stiffer.

The 5FT cable worked flawlessly, and when I plugged this one in the light on my router was solid for about 30 seconds, then started blinking randomly for about a minute, and then was no longer lite. So seems like there was short somewhere in the wire.

Oh well, only $3 so not a huge problem; I'll try another cable now.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD CABLE

Pros: Cat6 - tested and achieved full gigabit speeds as desired. Nice construction. The black color is nice, not too glossy, hides well. Not too thick, not too thin. Can take 45degree turns on long runs very well; wouldn't take heavier angles though. Definitely recommend for standard application.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Cat6 does its job, getting those gigabit speeds!
