5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine......

Pros: I just got a newer Mac Pro that only has Firewire 800 ports on it. This cable let me reconnect my way cool Firewire Dinohub, so that I can use my Canopus ADVC110 and my external Firewire 400 DVD burner.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a cable

Pros: This is a very sturdy cable and plugs in securely both to my MacBook Pro and the AcomData external drive enclosure.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: It's a cable. What more can I say?

5 out of 5 eggsWorked great..

Pros: Does what it says.

Cons: Someone stole it from me last week 8-(.

Other Thoughts: Great cable, keep your eyes on it, it walks away when you aren't looking.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: none

Cons: It didn't work. Now I am spending my evening transferring files via ethernet. It feels like the 400 firewire end just doesn't fit correctly. The first transfer failed, I had to reimage the new MacBook Pro, then transfer files via ethernet because this cable didn't work. I have imaged many computers and backed up files. This cable doesn't work and it isn't worth the shipping to return!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cable

Pros: -Sturdy/Thick
-Good Price. Brick & Mortar stores have obscene markup on cables

Cons: -the cable is stiff, so it never loses its shape from when it was packed. no big deal, though

Other Thoughts: Never had any problems with file corruption or the OS unmounting the drive or anything like that. the only reason you'd pay more is for a different material on the outside of the cable that is perhaps more flexible

3 out of 5 eggsFirewire 400 end not a good fit

Pros: Inexpensive, heavy-weight, black, FW800 perfect fit

Cons: FW400 end is not a good fit in either my G5 Power Mac or a portable hard drive. I had to force it more than any other cable, didn't feel right. It doesn't seem to insert as far as my other FW400 cables and it seems loose still.

5 out of 5 eggsMacBook Pro must have

Pros: This cable has good length and is build very well. Very rugged heavy duty feel not only in the cabling but in the connectors as well. By look and feel this cable seems like it is very expensive. Great price. Newegg.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If for whatever reason you have a tight space to plug in the cable, this cable probably wouldn't work. Because of the heavy duty construction you need about 2-3 inches to plug the cable in.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't believe the hype.

Pros: Good quality connectors, lengthy, very reasonable price.

Cons: Wasn't free, doesn't come in colors.

Other Thoughts: Purchased primarily for use with a Digidesign Digi002 and second generation unibody MacBook Pro, no issues with Pro Tools or other audio applications using the 002.

Don't be a sucker and spend $30-50 for the same cable at The Apple Store/Best Buy. Do the right thing and order this instead.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally! Decently Priced Cables

Pros: $4 cable that's just as good as one you get for $30.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This cable has molded plastic connectors, probably ABS, a rubberized plastic. Strong and reliable.

It's not that cable that's loose in your FW port, it's that your port is breaking, probably from not being careful with it. This cable fits tight and secure on my iMac 3.06, just the way it should. I've got it hooked to a string of drives and I stream video into the computer on the same chain. It works great.

I have another 'cheap' cable from this company and it's also great, at less than half the price of other brands.
