1 out of 5 eggsStay away from this cable

This review is from: Link Depot 1394A-10-4P6P 10 ft. 1394 Cable, 6 Pin to 4 Pin

Pros: none, it was defective

Cons: my external drive wasn't even recognised cause it did not start up when plugged in. A standard IEEE1394 cable with adapter worked fine.

Other Thoughts: due to the low price I am not even sending it back for refund or replacement cause it costs me more to send it back than the cable costs.
I used other brands cables before that always worked. Should have sticked with what I know was good. This one is definitely not on my good material list....

5 out of 5 eggsGood

This review is from: Link Depot 1394A-10-4P6P 10 ft. 1394 Cable, 6 Pin to 4 Pin

Pros: Sturdy, fairly thick cable. Just finished logging18 miniDV tapes to my file server over it. No frame drops. The base of the 4 pin connection is bulky. At first I didn't think it would fit my camera, but it cleared fine. Feels like a quality cable when you hold it; and it's 1/3 to 1/5 the price of the same thing at best buy.

Cons: -

This review is from: Link Depot 1394A-10-4P6P 10 ft. 1394 Cable, 6 Pin to 4 Pin

Pros: Great price. All the ones and zeros made it from one end to the other without getting lost.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Used this to connect my HP dv9700t laptop to a DCT6412 DVR. Works like a charm!

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a 4 to 6 pin 1394 cable

This review is from: Link Depot 1394A-10-4P6P 10 ft. 1394 Cable, 6 Pin to 4 Pin

Pros: Fast shipping. Received in less than 24 hours. Really incredible, Newegg.

Price. If I bought locally I would have spent $30-40 for this.

It works. Does what it's supposed to do.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Using to connect a Sony Digital8 to a computer. BTW if you are putting video on your computer from a Sony you have to go with a 4 to 6 pin 1394, not the included USB cable which gives horrible quality.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

This review is from: Link Depot 1394A-10-4P6P 10 ft. 1394 Cable, 6 Pin to 4 Pin

Pros: 10 Ft. Long!!! (How many people actually need a cable this long, but for the price why not?) I use this cable specifically with an older 300 GB Seagate external hard drive. According to HD Tac average transfer speed is 38 Mb/s out of a theoretical 50 MB/s for FireWire 400 (Most likely due to the HDD itself.)

Cons: Shipping cost twice the price of the cable. However it ends up being cheaper than most 6 ft cables. The shielding on this cable does not appear to be as substantial as more expensive cables. Though I personally have not experienced any interference issues with this cable, and looking at the other reviews it seems no one else has either.
