1 out of 5 eggsAlmost lit itself on fire!

Pros: NONE!

Cons: I plugged a 3.5" HDD into the adapter and the supplied power supply. After approximately 1 minute I heard a pop (probably a capacitor blowing) from the hard drive. Smoke then came from the hard drive. I went to unplug the HDD as quickly as possible and in doing so burnt my hand on the PCB on the bottom of the HDD. Next, I went to unplug the power supply from the wall outlet. It was also smoking. It too was hot, but fortunately not hot enough to burn my hand again. Now I am stuck with a toasted HDD (which was previously working perfectly fine), lost data, and a bad IDE/USB adapter.

Other Thoughts: I guess you get what you pay for. Do NOT buy this unless you wish to have a possible fire on your desk.

The only good thing about this was that the USB header I used did not get damaged.

Newegg has always treated me well. No complaints for them. Maybe they can drop this product if there are other similar instances of this problem.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival, or just a bad device?

Pros: hmmm... It powered my IDE hard drives. That's about all it did.

Cons: Plug and play... not. No drivers needed for XP? Could not connect hard drive through any USB port on several XP computers. Computers would not even recognize that something was even connected.

The IDE adapter gets in the way of the power cable when connected. Hard drives would not power on until I disconnected the IDE adapter and then disconnected it.

Other Thoughts: Too big to use for a paperweight. Just borrow a friend's old computer if you need data of an old IDE.

5 out of 5 eggsBest thing EVER!

Pros: Super easy to use - no brainer.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was able to search 13 hard drives, wipe them, reformat as necessary & even recover data I thought was gone forever from one that a regular PC wouldn't read at all.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK......

Pros: The only pro to this is that i could transfer my stuff from my Hard Drive to my Laptop.

Cons: Well it transfered alright but i had 96 gbs of stuff to transfer and it took me almost a week to transfer it cause it was so slow. I was lucky to break 900kbps at a time.

Other Thoughts: I will never ever buy this product again. It says it 2.0 which is a lie and if i wanted slow products I would have never upgraded to a new laptop with all the trimmings.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none

Cons: Unit was not recognized by my computer. Keep wanting to be conected to usb2 but it was already connected. Tried on three different computers with the same result. Am not happy at losing postage both ways and the restocking fee but I knew the rules going in and I have to commend New Egg on their fast RMA and refund service. Basically the unit was junk and I will not purchase anymore Link Depot items.

5 out of 5 eggs2 years, working daily fine

Pros: this thing has saved me so much time over the years, simple effective product.

Cons: now that most of my drives are SATA, it's seeing the end of its usefulness

Other Thoughts: only used with XP, what's a windows 7?

1 out of 5 eggsCould not get to work under Windows 7

Pros: Price and size.

Cons: Product delivered was different than pictured. Delivered product was blue with both 3.5" and 2.5" IDE ports. Could not get to operate on Windows 7 with 400GB IDE Maxtor drive.

1 out of 5 eggsflimsy and weak

Pros: well works on a motherboard and as an external type hard drive connection. wont work with osx

Cons: flimsy cheap and lightweight almost like a novelty. the cord from usb to ide is short like 5 inches short. wont install mac osx on my netbook. installs windows 7 tho but wat doesnt. the manual blows doesnt tell you the power plug that comes with it is for your ide device your powering. doesnt even look like it should even be powered it looks that cheap. save yur $ and buy a flash drive or another solution period you will thank me.

Other Thoughts: I mainly bought this for an mac osx installation on my one netbook. I have been buying and building products for over 7 years so yeah i know what im talking about.
