2 out of 5 eggsDoesnt see it as a printer

Pros: Was as described, in in item description allowed me to download the driver for windows 7.

Cons: When plugged in it is recognized, but as "USB printer" and is not recognized as a printer, which means when you go to print something, you cannot choose that printer to print from, since it isn't recognized as a printer.

Pros: This item, interface connection cable to convert older db25 printer plug to usb, worked one session, 1-day.

Cons: Poor quality workmanship.
Today, I needed my printer to work. It failed. I didn't want to wait for a replacement, so I opened the connector case and found the four (4) usb cable conductors very poorly soldered to the solder points inside. I unsoldered, cleaned and resoldered the joints.
The printer is now working. How long will it work...

1 out of 5 eggsVery basic functionality

Pros: Chip

Cons: Does not provide support for LPT port, just "USB Printing Support" in Device Manager, i.e. the older software will not see it.

5 out of 5 eggsDid the trick

Pros: Used the cable between my computer and my parallel printer and Win 7 installed the driver. Didn't bother with the two included CDs.

Cons: the only con is that Newegg makes me type something in this con box.

Other Thoughts: inexpensive and worked to add a Parallel Printer port to my computer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect with correct settings

Pros: Inexpensive way to connect trusty, but old HP printer to new build with no parallel port. Works perfectly as network printer for multiple computers once I figured out the correct settings on the printer properties settings page. Using with Vista home premium 32 bit on an AMD dual processor unit.

Cons: Zero instructions or help on Link Depot's support page. Would lock up and not print without system restart until I figured out to setup Vista to print directly to printer under the advanced settings in printer properties. DON'T USE THE SPOOL PRINT SETTINGS OR IT WILL EVENTUALLY LOCK UP THE PRINTER!

Other Thoughts: Cheap, somewhat easy way to get continued use out of rock solid printer.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks fine when it works

Pros: Plug & Play. No driver disk needed in XP.

Cons: Every few days it stops working. I have to reboot Windows to get it working again. On the bright side the print queue survives the reboot so our documents do eventually print out.

Other Thoughts: I bought this in preparation for an upgrade to a new MB that does not have a parallel port for my Laserjet 4000. I hope Windows 7 reboots faster than XP.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: PnP at it's best. This cable simply works! My client now has his old reliable printer back on line at a fraction of the cost a new printer would be.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The OS is Vista Enterprise. Just make sure you select "Virtual USB Port."

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Plug and Play

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Comes with a driver disk that is not needed. Uses Virtual USB port, so check under to make sure that port is marked if you are having any issues
