2 out of 5 eggsPSU Fail...

Pros: It worked a couple times. Cables and adapter can be used with alternate power supply.

Cons: Power supply/inverter failed within a couple weeks. Not worth RMA'ing.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It has a SATA connection

Cons: Died with in the first month. Tried to find Link Depot online to submit a RMA but there is no warranty. This thing sucks, go for one that is more expensive because it actually works.

2 out of 5 eggsUseful, but cheap

Pros: Really useful when it works. If you DO want to go for it, DON'T spend too much on it.

Cons: Poor quality. Newegg is somewhat overpriced for its level of quality. The eSata and USB connections aren't solid sometimes, which causes a disconnect if bumped.

Other Thoughts: It's a good idea but bad implementation.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work

Pros: SATA power adapter works. That's about it.

Cons: No matter what sata hard drive I plug in, the PC will not recogognize it. Sometimes if I'm lucky in Disk Management I will get an "Uninitialized Disk" and when you go to partition it MBR or GUID, it says "Device not Ready".

The only thing that seems to work is the power adapter. I tried this device on 2 different laptops and also a desktop computer, all with USB 2.0 ports, directly into the PC (no hubs).

I tried it in Windows 7 64bit and also booting off an Acronis TrueImage cd. That's what I really wanted this for, to image the hard drive to a spare disk and restore it.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: Junk, I have only used this item 4 times in the past 5 months and now not one thing will load using this item. I expected it to be made a little better than what it was.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Junk

Pros: Its cheap.

Cons: Its cheap. You get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to transfer some files off of an internal hard drive that I pulled out of one of my old desktops that no longer worked. Ideally I would have liked to just put the hard drive back into a computer and network everything over. That wasn't an option however, so I bought this. Its very simple to use, it just didn't work. The power supply would power up the hard drive, but mulitple computers would not recognize the usb connection. It wasn't a driver issue either, device manager did not even recognize anything had even been pluged in. I supspect a bad usb cable. Its a cheap chinese item, and Im willing to bet thier quality control rate is about 50%. So If your willing to roll the dice with 13 bucks, it might work out ok for you. Im stuck with this garbage, its not even worth my time to send it back, haha.

3 out of 5 eggsBOOM

Pros: It lets you hook up pretty much any drive out there, Sata, pata 3.5" and pata 2.5". I think on 2.5" pata drives it even supplies power from the USB side. GOt about 35MB/s so it's as fast as other USB solutions.

Cons: Be very very carefull with the adapter. I had mine blown up on me and take out the fuse. Opening up the adapter showed me a pulverized fuse. Only the ends where partially left. The adapter was filled with glass dust. On the backside one of the copper trails was burned out/ripped appart going from 1 pin to the diode (the fuse is connected on the other pin)

Other Thoughts: It's cheap it does what its supposed to do, but the adapater is seriously poop.

1 out of 5 eggs2 for 2 Defective

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Bought 2 at the same time and neither of them work.

Other Thoughts: Didn't take them out of the box until 6 months later, so I will have to deal with the manufacturer for a replacement. Hopefully they respond.
