1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

Pros: It was a cheap expirement?

Cons: I figured that the xD format would be universal, but apparently there are variations on the xD format.. Thanks Olympus... So this adapter did not work with either a 2GB or an 8GB microSD card i had laying around, in an older Olympus X-42 point-and-shoot.

The camera accepted the adapter with sd inside just fine and dandy, and i even formatted each card to fat32 just in case, and the camera simply said "Clean contacts or format card". No amount of messing with it could get it to work. I don't have an old xD card laying around so i can't say anything about the contacts layout, but it doesn't look abnormal to me.

It was a cheap experiment, not the end of the world.

Other Thoughts: Apparently Olympus has a list of cameras that will accept that adapter. Out of the 10k cameras they have made in the last 10 years, about 10 of them are compatible. The X-42 is not one of them.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless!

Pros: None

Cons: This item is useless since it isn't the correct shape to fit any sort of XD card reader! Why they even made or sold this product I don't know.

2 out of 5 eggs_NOT_ xD form factor!

Pros: It might work with some Olympus cameras, if it supports the MASD-1 attachment (which is what this is!) For mor information about this product: http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/MASD-1_FAQ_EN.pdf

Cons: As the document says, this is not the same form factor as xD. There are also some limitations for cameras that do support this adapter. Don't be fooled that this will work with all xD cameras!

1 out of 5 eggsOverpriced junk

Pros: None

Cons: Doesn't take the Micro-SD card completely inside the adapter, leaving a good portion sticking out the side.
Has a tab on the "bottom" of the adapter, requiring me to cut it off (and probably damaging the connectors in the process).

Other Thoughts: Whoever designed this, didn't think it through very thoroughly. Thought I could use this to get a little longer use out of my older Fujifilm FinePix camera, but this turned out to be a total bust, costing me $5 in the process, not counting shipping. Yet another piece of junk that will go into a landfill somewhere.

2 out of 5 eggsnot worth the hassle

Pros: great idea, overall. I don't have many places where xD is needed over SD, but my wife's camera is one of them. Great price to figure out if we like it or now too.

Cons: OK, well, for one, it never even worked. At first, I thought it was beacuse of the camera, so I tried to put it into my computer. That didn't work. "Well maybe it's the brand of card reader?" So I went to my wife's computer... Still now workie, although it fit in a bit more easily and closely in her computer's card dreader slot than in her camera or my computer.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I tried what others have said about nipping th etip off with a razor. It worked to be able to fit the card in fully into the camera, but then the camera didn't read the card correctly. [card error]. The camera that we were hoping to make it work in is a FujiFilm S3Pro.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than XD cards

Pros: Works as advertised, now I can make better use of my digital camera. the micro-sd in this adapter writes faster and performs better than the 1 and 2 GB XD cards I have.

Cons: some of the camera's features do not work with the adapter, but that is the fault of Olympus and not the adapter.

Other Thoughts: Olympus keeps using XD picture cards even though they are awful, thank goodness for this adapter. I have had XD cards just stop working and lose all of my pictures, these adapters however are flawless. lets hope Olympus will open their firmware so we can take advantage of all of the features without having to fight with the garbage XD cards.

1 out of 5 eggsnot for olympus camera

Pros: none

Cons: didn't fit in xd card slot on my olympus fe-340. i trimmed it with some scissors (about 0.010" on the side where the microsd card fits, then had to cut off the triangular tab); now the camera advises me to "clean the contacts" of the card. further inspection of the contacts shows they are designed differently than the original sd card, and will not line up inside the camera.
