5 out of 5 eggsStill working as well!

Pros: Purchased in 2008, still does a great job doing what it's meant to do! I've tried comparing converted audio to non-converted audio, there is virtually no difference to my ears.

    Cons: That it's discontinued?

Other Thoughts: Built-in sound card on my motherboard isn't the best, nice to have an optical audio out alternative. Even when using headphones, prefer to connect my headphones to my receiver getting the digital audio, instead of the standard mobo jacks.

    5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Z-5500

Pros: I had to get this converter because as many of you may know the Logitech Z-5500 only supports one optical digital input and one digital coaxial input. Also, both my Xbox 360 and PS3 output ONLY in optical digital. Seeing as how I wanted to connect my Xbox 360 and PS3 to the Z-5500, without routing it through my LCD TV, I needed to find a way to utilize the digital coaxial input on my Z5500. Thats where this converter comes in. I now use my optical digital input for the PS3, and my Xbox 360 outputs an optical digital signal which gets passed through this converter, then I connect a digital coaxial cable from the converter to my Z-5500 control pod. Now I am able to receive Dolby Digital 5.1 audio with my Xbox 360.

Cons: The packaging of the product could have been better, but the product still works as expected.

Other Thoughts: Would definitely recommend this product to someone who has a Logitech Z-5500 speaker set and wants to connect two digital audio devices to it such as an Xbox 360 and PS3. Also can be used for other devices such as a digital cable box or anything else that outputs an optical digital signal. Other websites had this product and variations of it, but when I seen Newegg had it, I quickly jumped on the deal!!! It also came sooner than expected!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as promised

Pros: I had an optical cable and an optical output from my DVD player but no optical input on the receiver, only digital coaxial. I bought this and a coaxial cable to patch the optical to my receiver input. TADAA! works great. Other reviewers have said it can go either way -optical to coax or vice versa. Don't know about that, but taking optical to coax worked well.

Cons: I guess the fact that you have to plug it in is a bit of a con, but I would not downgrade it for that.

Other Thoughts: I did not know such a thing existed, but did a search and found it on Newegg. Neat.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what its supposed to

Pros: It does what it is supposed to. Surprisingly it is a two way link: Toslink->Digital Coaxial and Digital Coaxial->Toslink. There is no switch, so I guess it auto-detects the input and adjusts the output accordingly. Though I have not tried this yet.

Cons: Packaging was a little buffed. But the actual product had no visible defects.

Other Thoughts: I hooked this up to my LCD Monitor/TV (Samsung T260HD) to my Logitech Z5500 speakers (Toslink->Coax). Works fine, lets me watch TV and hear sound over my speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works great. Cables connect properly and there is no sound issues. Also, it comes with a 5 year warranty provided by SIIG (which was my deciding factor for buying).

Cons: As expected, it added more wires and it comes with a relatively small power brick.

Other Thoughts: I use this to connect my PS3's optical output to my Bose surround sound's coaxial input (apparently Bose does not think that optical input should be a standard feature).
