1 out of 5 eggsDon't waist your money

Pros: Easy setup was about it.

Cons: Poor video quality when played back as DVD. Both captured VHS tapes and Hi Def from the Video Recorder were terrible.

Buying a video capture board. Should have done that to begin with.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work; videos white and washed out

Pros: Easy to set up. Cheap.

Cons: Doesn't work like it should.

Other Thoughts: I loaded up the software that came with it, and was able to find the video. In that respect it worked. However, the video was so white and washed out I could barely make it out. The VCR menus looked completely fine (so YMMV) but the video itself when playing was very bright. There were no settings to adjust brightness.

Just to make sure it was the device and not me, I walked the entire VCR over to my TV and plugged it in with the same cables. It looked completely normal on the TV.

In the end, it was completely useless to me.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible

Pros: none

Cons: This is the worst piece of equipment I have ever bought from New Egg(it is getting sent back today)
1) You wiggle the usb plug just to get it to connect and if you barely tap it, the screen will turn blank
2) Absolutely HORRIBLE refresh rate, My computer has usb 2.0 but this thing isnt nearly fast enough to keep up with the video comming in. The Result is jagged, lagging, unwatchable video footage. This does seem like a beta testing unit.
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsPick a different product.

Pros: It was inexpensive, but apparently you get what you pay for.

Cons: The device keeps losing connection.
The software has to be "tweaked" to actually install (wrong hard coded paths).
The software user manual is only a link to a non-existant location on your harddrive.
I downloaded the software manual from Honestech. It does not match the actual software screen shots or options.
The product key has to be entered each time you start the program (and it's 25 characters).
The software does not remember any of the previous settings.
I was never able to actually get a picture.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I feel like the device was a beta, that was not ever tested.

It goes back today.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: lots of pros. cd has win7/64 bit drivers and they installed w/o a glitch. the honestech capture software is much improved over previous versions of it. its not fancy but it gets the job done and has all the options you need. its not in the picture but this little baby comes with a 2 foot usb cable extension!!! and overall it just "works" no problems at all. oh yeah its cheap too! wont break ya bank buying this one.

Cons: just the plastic packaging has hard to get open WRAPRAGE argh

Other Thoughts: if you are on the fence about which usb capture device to get and are lookin at the cheap ones, get this one you will be pleasantly surprised how easy it was to setup and be converting in like 5 mins total
