Use this adapter cable to connect your inkjet, laser or high speed printer to a computer without a parallel port, or free up the parallel port for a zip drive or scanner. Forget the hassles of IRQ sharing by adapting your printer to USB. If you have multiple printers, you can eliminate the need for a switchbox by connecting each printer to a USB port.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't connect to Parallel Printer

Pros: It has a solid plastic one piece cover rather than the cheap two piece design that seems to be looking for an excuse to separate.

Cons: Look more closely at the photos than I did, this female plug doesn't connect to a parallel printer. For that you may want the slightly more expensive C2G 22429 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable. I rated my tech knowledge lower than it is because I failed to study the photo.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work

Pros: Advertised well

Cons: Did not work. I had another cable of this same type hooked to another computer in the house. When I used my old cable, everything worked; this new cable would not work.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works perfectly with my HP Deskjet 1120C with Windows 7. Just follow the instruction that comes with the cable there are some settings that you'll need to change in printer properties. Note: this adapter cable supports printers only.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Product is Fantastic!

Pros: This product worked perfectly as interface between my old workhorse printer, an HP 5P, and Windows 7. The driver was loaded automatically and the instruction were very clear and easy to follow. My printer now works perfectly! Prior to using this cable, my HP 5P wasn't printing at all. I either got printing errors in the print queue or when I clicked on Print in MS Office nothing happened. This totally fixed the problem.

Cons: I have no negative comments at all.

4 out of 5 eggsDid the Trick!

Pros: Works as described.

Cons: Shipping, was from N.J. I live in Pa, DHL carrier send the item to MD., then transferred to USPS mail which then delivered this item.

Other Thoughts: I guess DHL has no depot in Pa, and the closest point is Maryland. Oh well.

4 out of 5 eggsCan't be used for anything but a printer

Pros: It appeared to be good quality and was recognized by the computer immediately.

Cons: This adapter can ONLY be used for a printer, NOT for a zip drive or anything else. That wasn't clear in the description but it was very clear on the packaging material. Since I was wanting to connect a zip drive, this doesn't help me and I am returning it.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if the language in the description was less ambiguous.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly works for Printers!

Pros: Probably works fine to hook a parallel printer to usb.

Cons: Despite the description saying "•High speed, bi-directional parallel port, compliant with IEEE-1284 industry standard " - this is not accurate.

It DOES NOT create a standard LPT1 (LPT2/3,etc) Parallel Port. It mearly installs "USB Printing Support" under system devices that you could use for printing.

This however will not help for when you need to access a device on LPT1 thru LPT3. Such as a ZIP drive, or a "security dongle" or other parallel devices.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says on the box

Pros: Does exactly what it says. It connects a parallel device to a USB port on your computer. In this case an HP Laserjet 3150 with nothing but a "C" style half-centronics port.
Plug this in to the male parallel end of your printer cable or anything else and then the USB into you computer. As I had the HP driver already loaded on the computer it saw the printer and installed it in less than a minute.
Prints everything I threw at it.

Cons: It is USB 1.0 but that is perfectly fine for printers and MOST legacy peripherals.

Other Thoughts: The HP3150 is an old all-in-one but prints VERY well and eats toner like a supermodel. It uses a "C" style or 1/2 centronics printer port so it was necessary to utilize an actual PARALLEL to USB. Old printers can be VERY finicky about USB converters. I have used other "USB to Printer" cable in the past and they SELDOM work right.
Nice work Cables To Go!

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Connects to the parallel cable of your printer. This does not connect to the back of the printer nor it is a replacement for the parallel cable. So if you don't have your parallel cable, you will need to acquire one before you use this product.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I bought a cheaper USB cable that connected directly to the parallel port on the back of my laser print - print outs were gibberish. Spend a little more and get this cable.
