See below for simple steps Cons: none Other Thoughts: After reading about a lot of attempts by others to use an HP-6P laserjet printer with Windows 7 and 8, and finding most of them discouraging, I want to share my success. I have not yet tried with Win 7. My solution was with Win 8, cost less than $10, and took 5 minutes. Here are the exact steps I took: Turn on HP-6P Using Cables To Go (C2G) 16898 cable (NewEgg Item #: N82E16812196233): 1. plug IEEE-1284 (parallel) end into printer 2. plug USB end into Windows 8 machine (no visible acknowledgement appeared on screen) 3. manually run Windows Update (Windows found HP-6P driver for Win 8, which appeared in description for download) 4. after Win Update completes, in Control Panel check that HP-6P is installed and appears under "Devices and Printers -> Printers 5. I connected an old HP 895cxi printer to this port, and it is now up and running fine using Windows 7. Cons: Manual is very small print! Get out your magnifying glasses. And follow step by step, missing one step, the printer didn't work. Package says that CD with drivers included, but there was only a manual, no CD in package. Other Thoughts: In the end it ended up working out, but took several tries and following exactly the steps in the manual. Windows 7 recognized the device right away, but then getting the printer engaged, took a little more effort. Overal I'm happy I can still use the printer. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
