5 out of 5 eggsperfect little switch

Pros: I have only owned two different types of video switches before. This guy for the money is great. Comes with RF extension for the remote. Small and from what I can tell little or no loss of quality.

Cons: Has power cord. No big deal

1 out of 5 eggs3rd HDMI Switch/Splitter That Failed

Pros: Seemed to work the first time

Cons: Only fully worked once, then started adding noise to the picture (lines etc.) and would drop video every now and then like you were changing channels or something.

Other Thoughts: I only use these on my free time as it’s only for my gaming so I tested it once and didn’t seem to have an issue and the next time I tried like 3 weeks later it was impossible to game with the picture cutting in and out so I disconnected it. This is the 3rd HDMI switch that has failed for similar issues that I thought having a powered one would fix so with 3 different brands failing I apparently will have to get a larger more expensive one next time that contains the circuitry to actually function correctly.

1 out of 5 eggsDont waste your 25 bucks

Pros: 5 inputs and a remote

Cons: Remote stopped working before the first evening was up. Literally switched via remote 3 times before it stopped. Luckly button presses worked for a few days.

All in all, sounds like a great deal but unfortunately for me it was too good to be true. I guess if you're like me and think its worth it to spend 25 bucks instead of 50 for one that will work then its fine. its only 25 bucks. However for me, that 25 bucks was wasted completely. Product completely stopped working in under a week, including changing input via physically pressing the button on the unit.

Cheaply made and it shows.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money to get something of quality. Really, 1 star is just for the fact that Newegg shipped it quickly and I received it in working order.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat It Works

Pros: It is a great little HDMI 5 port switch. It has a remote IR sensor for the Remote, so you can place it in more positions, It works with TV and my Dish, Computer, X Box, and Sony Blue Ray. It has Manual switch on top, a blue port indicator LED and can auto detect when device is powers up automatically. Have not tested that feature on everything yet. The remote is small and easy as long as you remember # 3 port is in the center.

Cons: Requires power and being plugged in. The power cord is only 18 inches. 24-36 in would be better. I don't like auto detect. Computer comes out of sleep mode and switches to it

Other Thoughts: I would buy again...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent device

Pros: Very small. Has a remote. Works very well. Has lasted a year.

Cons: The blue LED on the unit throws a little more light than I feel is necessary, but whatevs. i'd have blocked it with tape if I really wanted it to go away.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to connect my 360, a blu-ray player and my cable box to my television. Works just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsSick HDMI Splitter

Pros: This things rocks you dont even need the remote they send with it because it uses active selection. Whatever is sending a signal will automatically use that hdmi

Cons: If you have a buddy turn on another one connected to the switch it automatically will switch to the new device

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Other than the IR receiver it works as advertised.

Cons: Either the IR remote or the receiver (which for some reason is labeled "IR emitter" in the pictures) or both do not work consistently. Sometimes it will respond to a button press, other times you can press it 10 times in a row to no effect. Replacing the battery on the remote didn't help. Also the IR receiver does not look anything like the one in the picture-the one I received is solid black and vaguely triangular.

Other Thoughts: The selector button on the splitter itself works fine, but that means the rather unsightly splitter has to be in easy reach all the time.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome product

Pros: Remote control, auto switch, low cost, no set up time

Cons: Remote has to be pointed directly at the IR receiver to work. At this price point, not enough to deduct an egg.

Other Thoughts: If you're reading through the reviews, stop and just buy it. You won't regret it.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this, it worked for a little while.

Pros: This unit worked perfectly for a while, still works with limited functionality.

Cheap

Cons: 1. The remote stopped working less than a week of ownership.
2. It USED to automatically switch from input to input, but that functionality stopped working about a month into ownership. I now have to press the button on the device to switch inputs.
3. I really *HATE* the design of having all the cables go in all the way around the unit, it looks horrible and means it has to stay out of sight because it looks ugly and it doesn't lay flat.
4. It is really light, it doesn't have that feel or weight of a quality product.
5. The power input plug is extremely loose and flimsy when plugged in; The plug moves around and you have to be careful when you use it not to pull the cord out.

Other Thoughts: DON'T BUY!

I'm buying another one, and this time I'll spend the money to get one proper one that hopefully will address all my concerns with this one.
