The STARTECH RS-232 to RS-485/422 Serial Converter is an easy way to make your devices with RS-232 ports to adapt to environments where RS-485/422 is used. It converts RS232C signals to either RS-485 or RS-422 signals. You can use your existing RS-232 device to control or monitor RS-485/422 signals up to 4000 ft. away. The converter is also equipped with a handy DCE/DTE mode selection switch, and supports point-to-point multidrop configuration and full/half duplex operation. It draws power from the RS-232 connecter or by using the included 9V power adapter. The durable plastic construction ensures long-lasting use.

General information

Two-in-one adapter The unit converts RS-232 signals to either RS-485 or RS-422 signals with cable length of up to 4000 ft. Data transfer rates can reach 1 MB/sec. It supports point-to-point multidrop configuration and full or half duplex operation. It is great for monitoring or controlling RS-485/422 devices.
Switch between DCE and DTE modes easily Change from DCE mode to DTE mode or vice versa, with only a flip of switch. It is easy to change line signals.
Choose from two ways to power the converter Power the unit as you like. The converter can be powered through the RS-232 connector. Or you can use the included DC 9V, 200mA power adapter to power it.
