Features: Take the blazing speed of Serial ATA outside your case with an external slot plate from StarTech.com. The ESATAPLATE1 adds external data support to any existing Serial ATA controller. This product is designed to take advantage of the increased data integrity provided by external hard drives or RAID devices that support ESATA connections. You’ll get up to 300 MBytes/sec of reliable data transfer for your Serial ATA peripherals, like external storage devices.

Installation is easy: just install the plate into an open I/O slot on your computer and connect the cables to the Serial ATA connectors on your motherboard or controller card. The slim SATA data cable provides less clutter for increased airflow inside your case.

Cons: Low profile metal strip where the eSATA port is fixed to doesn't fit perfectly with Dell's frame. I had to use a Dremel tool to open up the opening for it to sit snugly in the frame. Cons: None - Single port versus dual port decision. Other Thoughts: Purchased to use with Seagate FreeAgent Pro 500GB to be used for an external backup solution.
