5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great and Cheap!

Pros: Basic CPU power extention cable. It works as described is high quality and low cost. Good for those with a tall case and not wanting to try to find a power supply with extra long cables.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped it fast and it didn't cost much. I needed this when upgrading my system with a motherboard that only uses a 4 pin CPU power connector. I also have the StarTech 8 pin extension from my last motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsFried My Motherboard

Pros: None.

Cons: This cord fried my motherboard. After installing it my computer failed to post (fans and lights come on, but no beep or picture) even while breadboarded (everything but CPU unplugged). I have tested the CPU and PSU in other systems and they are both still working fine.

This $2.99 product has now cost me over $150 and my 8-pin CPU power cable STILL doesn't reach where I want it to.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap but Cheap

Pros: I used this to extend my PSU's cables after a case swap. My home server case prevented the previous 80+ server PSU from reaching after the case upgrade. Worked. Didn't affect performance so gauge of cable is appropriate for standard loads.

Cons: Some of the cabled popped out during install. Specifically the purple line which prevented the entire computer from turning on. messed with it for 5 minutes until i found which one popped out. Forced it back and it was good to go. With any cable

Other Thoughts: With any cable extension this is only appropriate for home or non-critical use. I was cheap and used a cheap solution. It worked poorly but I expecting it. little servers now works for less than $10.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfectly functional, why pay more?

Pros: Inexpensive yet high quality. Perfectly fine for moving electrons.

Uses industry standard colors for the supply voltage used.

Cons: Could be an inch or two longer and it wouldn't offend me.

Other Thoughts: Perfectly functional extension for those cases where the power supply is on the bottom and the motherboard assumes the power supply is on the top. This generally means that you have to pull the 8-pin supply cable across the MB from bottom to top to get the plug in. It can be done but if you have cards (e.g., video cards, NICs, etc.) or a large CPU heatsink, it is going to be draped across everything in the case. Of course sometimes it simply won't make it at all. Stretching copper is pretty difficult.

I guess for those of you with lexan on the side of your case it is not very visually appealing. Mine sits behind a piece of black steel so I can't see it anyway.

5 out of 5 eggs8 pin power extension

Pros: does what its supposed to, lets me route my 8-pin behind my motherboard all the way around to its connector.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: make different colored versions, sleeves and wire colors etc.
