Cons: I contacted Startech and they responded with the DUH comment download the newest driver! I am a network engineer by trade and had already done that. I placated them and did so again and tried the install again to no avail. Then I sent a follow up with more detailed info which they responded to.... oh yeah we don't support Mac OS 10.7 only 10.6...... Needless to say because of the cost of returning the Item I will not return it as it would cost me more to do so and have the item re-shipped. Ex_Brit 4/16/2010 1:06:20 PM Tech Level: 4/5 Ownership: 1/5	Rating: 5/5An Adapter That Finally Worked! Pros: I finally have a USB/Serial Adapter that works in Vista/Windows 7 x64. Now I have backed up my PDA which uses a serial adapter and my Alienware PC doesn't have such a port, hence this adapter. Previous ones never worked for some reason. Once I had installed the driver from the provided mini-CD it immediately allocated a spare COM port (#4) and I was then able to connect my PDA to my PC. Cons: The driver didn't install automatically as described in the literature even though I directed Windows to look on the CD for it. I had to open the CD and use the setup.exe myself to install it. I've ordered 4 of these so far, and I will stop. The first one was fine, the next three came with bad drivers. The instructions referenced a different driver disk. kovert 9/16/2007 5:19:04 PM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 2/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 4/5works Pros: plugged in and it "just worked" under NetBSD/i386 4.0RC1 with the uplcom driver. (note that this was not a vendor supported configuration so YMMV). Cons: with minimal effort could not get it to work on a macbook pro running OS/X 10.4, even with the included driver. I did not look at the vendor web site for newer drivers. Other Thoughts: I did not try it under windows. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful. Did you?
