1 out of 5 eggsNOT OS X COMPATIBLE

Pros: Nothing caught fire.

Cons: Description states it is Mac compatibile, and it's just not.
The software on the mini-CD that comes with it is a hodgepodge of Windows98 executables and dos batch files.

Other Thoughts: Complete waste of time and money.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes everything I needed it to do

Pros: - Allows me to transfer data between drives .
- relatively fast for what I needed it to do .
- Cables are long enough ( although sata could be longer )
- Must have for any technician

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I wish the Sata Cable was a bit longer ( I replaced the one that came with the set with a longer one ) but that is not enough to take off the egg . The product does what it suppose to do and works flawlessly . could not be happier and will recommend this product and company to all my techie friends in the future .

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: none

Cons: DOA power brick fried and let out its "Magic Smoke" when I first plugged it in.

Other Thoughts: Newegg needs to rethink their return policy on DOA items

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: I have never heard of one bad thing about Newegg, but have ordered only one thing from them at this point. Cant believe how fast it got to the house. Although, some websites have a cheaper price, but at such a small amount, who cares. Very good expierence, will keep using them for now on.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: This device is pretty awesome, has the ability to run both IDE and SATA, it is fast, and was made very well.

Cons: I cannot think of con other than the unit is in two pieces, sometimes that is handy, other times, its not.

Other Thoughts: I've used a couple drive setups, enclosures and just cables, and this is my favorite setup so far. It runs smooth and doesn't shut down randomly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks really well

Pros: Very portable, has built in power for IDE or SATA drive. Comes with power adaptors for US, EU, and Asia! Amazing deal.

Cons: Nothing bad to say.

Other Thoughts: Plug in all external hardware (drive, power, etc) before plugging in the USB connector to your PATA/IDE-only computer. When the red USB light comes on, turn on the adapter's SATA power switch. Voila!

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's designed for. Handy

Pros: Connects to standard IDE, laptop IDE, and SATA. Includes power connectors for both and one for auxiliary power. I believe the latter is supplemental for USB-powered devices, but I didn't try it.

Cons: If connecting standard IDE and SATA at the same time, and you need molex power for the IDE drive, it requires a right-angle SATA connector. The SATA connection is on the end of the device pointing at where the molex power goes on the drive. THere's not much space between the two. Not a big deal but be prepared with a right-angle cable.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Tool

Pros: Connects to just about everything you would need for Data recovery, imaging, etc. No problems connecting to any operating system that Ive tried it on. As fast as can be expected for a USB 2.0 cable transferr rate.

Cons: Not many. The SATA power connector can break easily if your not careful when you plug it in. Sometimes takes a few tries to get it to recognize the drive.

Other Thoughts: This will be the 3rd of these that I have used. I work in an IT shop and we all swear by these devices for our data recovery. Essential tool in my shop

1 out of 5 eggsNeeds A Lot fo Work

Pros: Handy when you need to connect a drive for troubleshooting or set up work.

Cons: Poor design. The SATA power plug is thin and broke easily. Also, the SATA power plug and SATA data plug won't connect to the drive at the same time because there isn't room for them both side by side. The plugs are a bit too big and interfere with each other. The cables are also not well thought out the length and rigidity of them make it so that one will cause the other to com unplugged.

Other Thoughts: This could be improved greatly if StarTech would actually use their products and realize some things need to be changed.
