This SATA HDD Adapter allows one or two 2.5in SATA (SATA, SATA II, SATA III) hard drives (HDD) or solid state drives (SSD) to be installed into a single 3.5in drive bay and connected to the host computer in place of a 3.5in SATA hard drive. Simply mount the 2.5in SATA hard drives to the adapter board, and install the adapter in the computer as though it were a single drive.

To power the installed drives, the hard drive adapter includes an LP4 to dual SATA power 'Y' cable that lets you connect both drives to one of the computer power supply LP4 power connections. Then, it's as easy as connecting each of the drives to the motherboard SATA data connectors.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Does What You Want

Pros: Can mount not one, but two little hard drives nice and securely, no fuss.

Cons: No cons, worked pretty well

Other Thoughts: I looked at it first and was a little confused. Read the instructions, you have to punch out a bunch of sections to make it work.

5 out of 5 eggsQuirky, but it works

Pros: It works and can be trimmed to fit odd spaces if required

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have a few different 2.5 to 3.5 adapters laying around, so why is this the one that actually got installed ? Because it's easy to modify if required, holds two 2.5 drives easily, and wasn't too expensive.

2 out of 5 eggsGood idea but very poor quality...

Pros: It allows you to squeeze two 2.5" drives in a single 3.5" drive bay.

Cons: It's comparatively expensive. The bottom drive's controller board is WAY too close to the bracket itself. It's close enough to easily cause a short circuit. Also, if you need to mount it with screws from the bottom, which I happen to need to do, then you'll be very disappointed with the fragile plastic clips that you have to somehow push through the holes in the bottom plate. If you don't, you'll have nothing to thread screws into. They are very difficult to install and very easy to break. I broke two of them while trying to install them. The bracket is a good idea but the idea is very poorly executed and I'm not very happy with it.

Other Thoughts: If I had it to do over again, I'd probably buy a different one and modify it myself.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: worked great to fit in the supermicro 1U case. Used it for 2 SSD drives to fit in a very tight 3.5" slot in the case.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: worked great in a supermicro cse-512L-260 case

1 out of 5 eggsNo for hot swap

Pros: Inexpensive. Would nicely hold two 2.5" drives in a NON hot swap 3.5" drive bay.

Cons: The adapter put the 2.5" drive in the center and up just a bit. So if you put this adapter with drive in a 3.5" hot swap holder the SATA connectors will not match up with the hot swap chassis. So useless for me.

5 out of 5 eggsLow Profile

Pros: Wow, forget about the price. You get what you pay for. Love this thing. Worked exceptionally well in a low profile sistuation in a 1U server chassis. Couldn't be more pleased. The photos make it look cheep but it is far from it.

Cons: Only came with 12 screws to secure hard drives. You will need 4 to mount to your chassis. Can't knock it for that because said screws would come with a case anyhow. And a true guru has screws of all shapes and sizes.

Other Thoughts: Can see myself purchasing this again when the time comes that I need more.

5 out of 5 eggsExternal Dock

Pros: This is the best Hot Swappable Plug and Play External Dock I have ever used...

Cons: None.. So far... We will see how it holds up to daily abuse...

Other Thoughts: Doesn't work well with RAID... But I have a Server For That...

4 out of 5 eggsIt does what it is supposed to.

Pros: It works.
Fits two 2.5" SSDs no problem
Fits into any drive mount I've tried it on.

Cons: Kind of pricey.

Other Thoughts: For what you get the price is a little steep, but it fits two drives into a single standard 3.5" size drive bay.

5 out of 5 eggsOnly 2.5" adapter that fits NORMAL Hard drives

Pros: This is unfortunately the only drive adapter that will accept normal large threaded hard drive screws. All the other adapters seem to demand the smaller CD drive threads. If you have a special case, Antec P180 where the hard drive screws are not normal (long threaded etc..) This is your only option because the plastic will take different sized threads! Hooray

Cons: kinda pricey for a PCB + screws!

5 out of 5 eggs3.5" Bay to Dual 2.5" SATA HDD Adapter is a Home Run!

Pros: This Adapter assembled and installed easily as per the directions. In about 5 minutes, I had the two drives installed physically and ready to begin Software installations.

Cons: While I applaud the conservative use of real estate, I suggest that the company has its employees knock out the wafer board side rails. They are easy to break during the punch out process.

Other Thoughts: The price could be a couple of dollars lower. It comes with rubber feet... I suppose one could actually create an external dual drive bay.....
