3.5in SATA to CompactFlash SSD Adapter Card for 3.5 Drive Bay

The 3.5in SATA to CompactFlash SSD Adapter Card is a cost-effective solution that lets you use solid state storage in place of a SATA hard disk drive. It allows you to easily connect a CompactFlash card to a host computer through a Serial ATA data port. Once the adapter card is installed in the computer, the CompactFlash card can be used as an ejectable, bootable drive, providing full read and write access to the CF card, as if it were a SATA hard drive.

The included 3.5”enclosure lets you mount the adapter card in the front external 3.5” bay of the computer case, providing an easy access to the CF slot. An expansion slot bracket is also included, thus you can install the drive at the rear of the chassis.

This Adapter Card supports plug-and-play installation for a hassle-free setup. It allows for quick and driver-free installation into any SATA slot. The easy-to-use jumpers offer simple master/slave drive setting. Easily swap cards in and out with built-in push button ejector.

This review is from: StarTech 35BAYCF2SAT Compact Flash Card to SATA Adapter with 3.5” Bay Enclosure Pros: Nice design in terms of mounting options and easy to install. Cons: Did not work on my production workstation. Tried several sata slots and configurations. Tested CF on my other workstation that has a built-in CF reader running same OS and CF is good. CF-drive showed up in bios and Windows OS on production workstation ... but could not initialize or format CF card. Tried this adapter on an older motherboard that I have and worked. From my experience, this device is not compatible with all motherboard. Other Thoughts: Not happy with the results. Wasted allot of time on incompatibility issue that the manufacturer should have known (manufacturer boasted otherwise) -or- probably knew that this device has limited use. Tim W. 2/26/2013 6:55:23 AM Ownership: 4/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 5/5Great For loading FreeNas This review is from: StarTech 35BAYCF2SAT Compact Flash Card to SATA Adapter with 3.5” Bay Enclosure Pros: I've purchased 2 of these along with 2 SanDisk Compact Flash media the combo runs FreeNas 8 perfectly. Allows me to use my 8 x 2TB WD RE4 drives connected to an Adaptec 5805 running in RAID 5EE without a problem. Cons: None, unless you claim you know what you are doing and your knowledge is expert! Funny how I see it all the time on NewEgg yet these experts can't get stuff to work. Other Thoughts: On 2 different mother boards I had to set the configuration for SATA controller in the BIOS differently. On one had to set the SATA controller to IDE mode and the other allowed AHCI. After making the change both boards were able to see the media allowing me to install FreeNas 8.03. Just love this combo! Did you find this review helpful? Includes power adapter, PCI bracket, and 3.5" drive mount. Cons: Did not appear to be compatible with my motherboard's SATA controllers; device would show up in BIOS but then not load properly in OS. Also, circuit board is poorly secured to PCI bracket, which bends upon card insertion. Other Thoughts: Don't really recommend this card. Did you find this review helpful?
