Pros: "Allows connection of a SATA device to an IDE motherboard or card" - This does *exactly* what it says it does, it connects an SATA drive to an IDE device such as a MoBo or card, Not The Other Way Around. - I used this to install an SSD into a very old touch screen PC and it works perfectly as described. I needed to replace the DVD drive in the same PC so I ordered another adapter.

Cons: None, works as clearly stated.

Other Thoughts: Any person must educate yourself about what you purchase to make sure you are purchasing what you want. You can;t justifiably degrade the product if you didn't know what you were buying.

Visit the manufacturers website before buying so you know what it is you are buying.

As they say in construction, "Measure twice, cut once" which means "Know what you are doing".

Pros: NONE

Cons: its designed all wrong.... it fits onto the drive nice. however if you put it in a hard drive cage it doesn't fit.... u cant get the cables onto the port nore fit the thing through the cage because it would hit the side. also when the drive is fully in place u cant put it on either... it would still hit the side of the drive cage on a Thor V2 case.

the converter itself also doesn't respond in windows. no drive shows up nor in bios

overall its just a light paper wheight

Pros: This makes me use new SATA hard drive in the old IDE-only motherboard. This device is put on motherboard socket. Power should be connect independently with a provided power cable because IDE socket in the mother board does not provide power to this device. This device J-micron chip which supports LINUX OS too. I tried other models, all of which worked on Windows OS only but did not work on LINUX except VANTEC's product. VANTEC product has the same chip as this device, but this device has the different chip configuration. The main usability of this device is in lower height unlike Vantec's product, which has the SATA socket on the top.

Cons: There may exist some reliability issues, which time should tell in the future. But I could not find the major cons at this time.

Cons: While building a new gaming rig, took my exisiting mobo and installed into my other case, bought this to use older PATA or IDE HDD's with the mobo that only had SATA ports. Despite the description and look, this works only one way it seems. If your trying to use a SATA HDD with a Mobo having an IDE slot, this should be fine, but a HDD with the IDE/PATA connection to a Mobo with SATA it will not work. I moved jumper setting, had all power hooked up and no luck. Can't give more than 1 star since I can't use it.

Other Thoughts: I plugged this into my Dell 2400 and it works just fine. You need to buy a LP4 to SATA power converting cable. Mine did come up with a wierd 'Primary drive 1 not found press F1 to continue' Press F1 and it boots right up. My mighty Dell now has a 1TB hdd.

Pros: Perfect solution for older MB's that don't have SATA ports. Small size fits right on motherboard. XP and Vista - perfect.

Cons: The kit does not include a SATA power adapter cable for the hard drive/DVD drive.

Other Thoughts: Used on a Dell Dimenson 2400 and an old ASUS P4 board. Saved them from the scrap bin. Has run flawlessly on both computers 24x7 for about 10 days, heavy usage.

Cons: Beware--this device is only described by the manufacturer as working in one direction: from an IDE MB connector to a SATA device!

Other Thoughts: I bought this device thinking that it would work either way; i.e., to connect an IDE MB connector to a Sata device, OR to connect an IDE device to a SATA connector on a MB. Apparently it only works in the former configuration. I don't know where I thought I saw it would work either way--perhaps another similar device--but a careful review of the manufacturer's info only describes it as a one-way device. My apologies to the vendor for the previous bad review.

Pros: Small size

Cons: I bought this adapter to interface an older IDE HD to a new MB with only one IDE connector, which I wanted to use with two DVD drives. When the adapter was plugged into the HD, the power connector on the adapter seriously interfered with the Molex power plug for the HD. I had to bend the adapter's power connector upwards 90 degrees to be able to plug in the HD Molex connector.
The Sata connector on the other end of the adapter also came off at an inconvenient angle and might cause problems in some installations. Beyond all this, the adapter simply did not work--BIOS could not find the drive.

Other Thoughts: I wonder what engineer designed this. Perhaps it might work to connect a Sata device to an IDE receptacle on a MB, although having the power and Sata connectors coming off each side might interfere with other MB components in some cases, depending on MB layout design.
