4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: works as it should

Cons: Have to wiggle the cord a little to get a clear picture. if i dont it has a heavy blue tint.. I dont know if its this or something else, as this happens to my friends and families laptops to TV's as well.

5 out of 5 eggsGotta love apple and their customers

Pros: does the trick, works just fine. Free shipping, not bad.

Cons: A bit of a snug fit on the mdvi side. not a big deal though.

Other Thoughts: Let me just say that if your only complaint about the product is that you BOUGHT THE WRONG ONE then don't give the product a bad review, it's your own fault you poor dummy. From the average buyer review you'd think these guys had shipped you a box full of snakes and a middle finger.

I almost bought the mdp adapter but I noticed that the pins didn't look right, did a little more research and found out that macbooks pre-2007 used mdvi outputs. I went to an apple store and asked for one, the guy handed me an mdp connector and I had to explain to him what I wanted, he said they don't sell them anymore. Good folks, Apple (eyeroll).

So anyway, I bought this connector for my girlfriend's early 2007 macbook and it does the job just fine. If you have an older macbook (spring 2007 or earlier), then this is what you want.

1 out of 5 eggsMacbook Pro? - NO

Pros: This looks like a high quality product, even if I couldn't use it. If you own a current model Macbook Pro, this IS NOT the adapter you want. It will NOT fit. You do not have a mini DVI, you have a Thunderbolt port that also accepts mini display port.

Cons: This will cost you a restocking fee from NewEgg if you have a current model Macbook Pro.

Other Thoughts: If you own a current model Macbook Pro, this IS NOT the adapter you want. It will NOT fit. You do not have a mini DVI, you have a Thunderbolt port that also accepts mini display port.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with late 2007 intel iMac

Pros: Snug fit so it won't fall out. Some people stated too snug which helped when I installed it by knowing that I would have to apply more than average pressure. Have it connected to a 47" Vizio LCD and it works great with Snow Leopard. I just have the "displays" icon showing on the OS top bar and turn "mirroring" on and off whenever I want to view on the Vizio.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Like others have stated, make sure which type of port your mac has because they both look identical.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Was delivered as promised

Cons: Don't buy this cable for an Imac to connect to a HDTV. It will not work. The Mini-DVI connector is very tight and will not insert into the Imac with a lot of pressure and adjusting. I ended up buying a Mini-Dvi-Dvi from Apple and then another DVI to HDMI cable from another store and it now works. I just fear I have damaged my Mini-DVI output from my Imac.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality and Function

Pros: Extremely solid build quality. I honestly expected something chintzy but usable, but after using similar adapters from each, I would bet on StarTech's longevity over Apple's. In fact I'm pretty sure I could jump up and down on it with no breakage.

Snug fit into Mini-DVI port. Much more secure than Apple's own adapters, which seem to fall out quite easily.

Few bucks cheaper than Apple's adapters, if you can even find one of this type. Can buy from Newegg for reasonable shipping costs.

Cons: Snug fit into Mini-DVI port. Requires mild force to insert (a hair more than snapping two Lego pieces together). There is a slight possibility that the close fit could translate to a worn port down the road, though I'm 99.5% confident this will never be an issue.

Other Thoughts: For older Macs with Mini-DVI, not newer Macs with Mini DisplayPort!

2 out of 5 eggsNOT SUPPORTED BY NEW MACBOOK

Pros: Yes it should do what it supposed to "if you have an older mac"

Cons: Not for a new generation macbook like its says! If you have a newer generation of mac, apple likes to make things difficult and change the standards. Notice if you have a new generation of the macbook DONT buy this product. New macbooks do NOT use mini DVI's but "mini display ports" there are products out on the market who use this standard.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Product

Pros: It is a great concept

Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Connection is flaky at best. It barely works if I jam it into the mini dvi port and wiggle it around. My mini dvi port has never been used before. This is a bad product. I fear if I haven't already, it will damage my mini dvi connection on my macbook.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good construction. Does what it’s supposed to do. (24" imac to a 61" plasma TV)

Cons: Wish it came in black but white is ok. Had to use more force than thought to plug it in (not really a con because it still works great)

Other Thoughts: Do your homework before buying this item!!!!

Apple uses mini display ports on some of its computers these days be sure you buy the right cable!

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do -- allows your Mac to connect to any monitor or TV that supports HDMI.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's a tight fit and needs a lot more force than usual to connect.
