This eSATA plate (low profile) adds external data support to any existing Serial ATA (SATA) controller, allowing you to connect external SATA (eSATA) storage to a computer. With support for data transfer rates of up to 300MBps, this external SATA plate allows you to take advantage of the increased data integrity provided by external hard drives or RAID devices that support eSATA connections. Connecting eSATA storage couldn't be simpler. Just install the plate into an open I/O low profile slot on your computer and connect the cables to the Serial ATA connectors on your motherboard or controller card. Pros: This was exactly the thing I was looking for to put in a SFF computer. Since it was SFF I needed to add a Hard drive and internally was not an option. This saved the day so I could use and external HDD to setup a temporary backup PC.

Pros: Allows me to hookup a SATA hard drive to my PC externally
Fits into my slimline case
Cheap

Cons: Does not have a positive feel when you plug a cable into it. No click or lock. Not sure how firm the connection is with the cable when plugged it.

Pros: Works.

Cons: The eSATA connector does not have a positive feel when a cable is plugged in and there is very little resistance to pulling it out. It feels like it could fall out and if you bump the cable it actually does sometimes.

Other Thoughts: I actually removed the bracket and mounted the eSATA connector directly to my back chassis (it had a cut-out for it). I do wish it had a bit more resistance hold the eSATA cable in place.

Pros: Needed a low-profile eSATA bracket for my slimline PC, as neither the motherboard nor case have dedicated eSATA ports, and I didn't want to get a host controller card. This little plate fits the bill. Works great.

Cons: Shipping was more than half the cost of the item itself.

Other Thoughts: Would've purchased this at a retail store and avoided the shipping, but none of the local shops in my area carry these, so Newegg it was.

Pros: This along with a ext. esata enclosure was installed in less than 15 minutes with a bathroom break in between. It's a esata bracket, nothing more, nothing less.
