5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: The motherboard connector is keyed so that it should only go in one way. I plugged in the connector in a ASUS Sabertooth X58 motherboard and it worked just fine.

The cable length was 16 inches so I could use any of the external slots on the back of the case.

Workmanship and quality of the cable and plate was excellent.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I needed an external Serial port for a very old legacy docking station. My motherboard had the port but the manufacturer did not supply the DB9 slot plate with the motherboard. This cable worked great.

If you have a similar need you will be happy with this cable and slot plate.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: Fit the standard Intel db9 pinout on the motherboard, and the serial port works as expected. I'm using it with a bottlerocket for x10, and it works with weird serial stuff that fails with usb adapters.

Cons: nil

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but cheap

Pros: perfect for header to DB9 internal applications.

Cons: wires are thin. very cheaply made, if i didn't have the black cover over the wires, I'm sure they would surely break. I have considered using nonconductive glue on them to make sure they never fray.

Other Thoughts: I used this to connect to an internal rs232 remote console unit. This does work as described, but it is very cheaply made. The black housing is cheap plastic, and the nuts molded in the plastic are cheap too. they ended up spinning while trying to righten the screws on the connector. I ended up having to remove them from the plastic to get anywhere with attaching it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat item

Pros: Works flawlessly so I can now use my older serial gadgets like my old Sharp organizers and it runs on Win7 64 bit. You do need a serial header on your MB and my new Intel board has one again.

Cons: Non that I have found

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg saves the day AGAIN with another quality product!

Pros: This serial port cable is a life saver for someone who NEEDS serial port capability and the motherboard manufacturer did not include a port on the boards I/O plate. The board did have a header however.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Many people still need serial port capability so I cannot understand why the manufacturers are slowly deleting them.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy as pie

Pros: Plug it into your board if you have an empty com port header. Motherboard automatically uses Com 1 if you have it set in Bios.

Cons: none.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Works

Pros: As easy as Plug And Play, all you have to do is plug it into a empty PCI slot and install the software easy as pie. Configures as default Com 1 if com port isn't already being used.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: As newer computers are starting to eliminate Serial Ports it's nice to be able to plug one in and hassle free.
