5 out of 5 eggsI Like This Cable

Pros: Perfect for use with the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card: Newegg item N82E16816101358.

Locking tabs at SATA end of cable.

Labels (1 to 4) on each cable near SATA ends. Nice touch!

Adequate length for use inside most PC cases.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Cable appears to be well made.

Would definitely buy again if I needed more of these.

5 out of 5 eggsworks GREAT with RocketRAID 2720SGL

Pros: We've purchase a half dozen RR2720 controllers, to test them installed in PCIe 1.0 x16 slots. THE biggest problem we have encountered is incompatible cables, which are difficult to diagnose. These Startech SFF-8087 work great with the RR2720 and support the 6G speed of SATA III SSDs, as long as the latest RR2720SGL BIOS is installed. The 0.5m cable length is helpful for cable management, and the latching SATA connectors are superior to the non-latching type.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you are new to Highpoint's 2720SGL, it is highly recommended that you start with brand new cables like these. Otherwise, you may find yourself doing lots of trial and error (as we did) when the fundamental problem is an incompatible cable, like early versions of Highpoint's 1.0 meter SFF-8087, and one of Adaptec's "SFF-8087" cables (NOT compatible!). The extra length of a 1.0 meter cable also causes extra problems for cable management inside any PC chassis.

5 out of 5 eggsSATAIII !!!

Pros: SATAIII! Inexpensive!! Works with RocketRAID 2720SGL!!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: StarTech makes great cables and these are no exception. For those of you that remember CablesUnlimited, StarTech is basically their replacement. StarTech's products are quality and you won't be let down with this cable.

**NOTE If you have a RocketRAID 2720SGL, you need to update the firmware for it to say SATA600 (it will say SATA300 unless your RR 2720SGL firmware is up to date!)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks on Dell servers

Pros: Worked first time with a Dell T620 on board SATA controler. The motherboard uses a SFF-8087 for 4 of the drive connections, and this cable clicked right in nice and snug. The SATA ends have latches that gave a reasuring click when pluged in to the devices.

Cons: The cable was a little longer than I needed, but it tied off to the side nicely. Still gets 5 eggs!

5 out of 5 eggsLong, nice cable 6GB SATA

Pros: Very nice cable. Gives you plenty of length for wire management. It is a 6GB's SATA III cable! Works great. Using it with a Highpoint Rocketraid 2720SGL controller.
Love the clips and fits snug. Getting 1.5GBs in a RAID 0 4 SSD setup. Will buy more!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: They come in RED. However, I would prefer BLACK color. Didn't see any on Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Cable

Pros: Latching cable for connecting SAS or SATA drives to RAID controller. Excellent quality, better than other cheaper cables I have used.

Cons: A bit pricy, but ultimately worth the price.

Other Thoughts: Using with LSI Internal SATA/SAS 9211-4i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 RAID Controller Card and 2x 2TB SATA drives in a RAID 1 array.

5 out of 5 eggsCould Not Have Been More Pleased

Pros: This one of those products that you just know you will like when you first open the package. The quality of this SAS to SATA cable set is fabulous. The 20" cable lengths are perfect for most any cable runs in a PC case (and probably many server cases as well). The latches are secure and the cable quality is obvious. You just couldn't ask for anything more in a product like this.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This cable set is the perfect companion for many SAS multi-port cards like the ones from HighPoint , LSI, SuperMicro, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cable for Adaptec RAID 6 Gbps

Pros: Flexible, flat cables similar to standard SATA cables in thickness and flexibility.

Cables are thin enough to route wherever you want but do not feel cheaply made.

Allows my SATA III hard drives run at their full speed of 6 Gbps.

Cables are just right for a mid-tower case and not so long they block airflow or get tangled.

Cons: Price for cable is currently a bit high, but its still cheaper than purchasing a RAID card "kit" that includes the card plus the cable.

Other Thoughts: Bought the cable for use with Adaptec RAID 6405 6Gb/s SATA/SAS 4 Controller Card. Used the cable to connect three Seagate 3TB SATA III drives to the card, and it works well.

5 out of 5 eggsUnique

Pros: No cable sleeving. That gave me much more flexibility when managing the cables in my case.
Latched SATA plugs.

Cons: The SFF-8087 plug didn't plug in/out as easily as other comparable brands. Not a big deal though, imho.

Other Thoughts: Sleeve or ziptie the cables yourself.
