Connect a DVI monitor to a single-mode DisplayPort output from your computer. The MDP2DVIS Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI Active Adapter (single-link) lets you connect your Mini-DisplayPort video source to a DVI-D display, including televisions and Apple Cinema Display HD, eliminating the expense of having to upgrade to a DisplayPort capable monitor.

Unlike passive video adapters, this Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter offers an active conversion for use with any Mini DisplayPort output - ideal for graphics cards that are not capable of outputting multi-mode DP++ signals (e.g. ATI Eyefinity).

Supporting resolutions up to 1920x1200, this compact device provides a simple solution for adapting PC or Mac® Mini-DisplayPort output for DVI monitors, televisions or projectors.

The Mini DP-to-DVI adapter is compatible with Intel® Thunderbolt™, when connected directly to a supporting DisplayPort over Thunderbolt™ I/O port.

Backed by a StarTech.com two-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

  • newegg Active Signal Conversion This Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter offers active signal conversion, which helps overcome the limitations of some Mini DisplayPort video cards not being able to output a DP++ (multimode) signal.
  • newegg Connect DVI-D Single-Link Display to a DisplayPort The MDP2DVIS is a small form-factor converter which makes Mini-DisplayPort backwards-compatible with your DVI-D single link display.

3 out of 5 eggsUsed to work well

Pros: 3-monitor Eyefinity Goodness.

Cons: After nearly a year, I started getting intermittent disconnects. I now get display port connection errors along with monitor redetects, even after monkeying with the cable. Maybe I just haven't found the sweet spot.

Other Thoughts: Radeon HD6950

Pros: Works for eyefinity on 3 monitors on my HD 7770.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's a cable, it does what it says. Works flawlessly.

4 out of 5 eggs2nd set works

Pros: Plug and play, works for eyefinity and has given me the triple monitor setup I wanted.

minus an egg for the hassle of RMA'ing and the first 2 adapters being DOA.

Cons: price, this is obviously a specialty item and the price is evident of that mindset.

Other Thoughts: hope yours work the first time and enjoy your eyefinity!

1 out of 5 eggs1 broken and 1 DOA

Pros: active adapter and 'should' work with eyefinity

Cons: cost, quality, headache

Other Thoughts: I ordered 2 adapters... 1 is completely DOA and the other forces the monitor down to 640 x 480(defective). What a headache. So not only is the price tag excessive, I didn't even get a QC'd high end product. I got the typical MADE IN CHINA garbage with a jacked-up price. Can you believe on their website this adapter goes for almost $50 each!

Newegg, this entire cable thing reminds me of shenanigans I'd experience dealing with blue shirts and that is very very... offputting.

I'll update my review after I start the RMA process next week.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great for 1080P

Pros: It just works. Plugged it in for my triple monitor setup and it just works. I have all three monitors running at 1080p and have setup eyefinity for gaming and what can I say, it just works.

Cons: None that I can see

Other Thoughts: I was told not to buy these because they were supplied power by a usb port but I haven't had any troubles. I probably wouldn't recommend if you are using anything higher than 1080P but if you are running 1080P setup this is very nice

1 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT work with Surface Pro

Pros: NONE did NOT work!

Cons: NONE did NOT work!

Other Thoughts: It may just be that it is not compatible with the Microsoft Surface Pro. Bought the Microsoft adapter and it worked fine.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: worked well for about 3 months

Cons: After using it about 3 months, I turned on my computer and the screen was not working. After some troubleshooting I figured out it was this that had flaked out. This is my second adapter, my other one is a power color and I have using it for about 2 years without any issues.

Other Thoughts: Idk if I just got a bum one but I bought another Power Color on the way as I had better luck with that brand.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: Works perfectly to get my 3 monitor eyefinity setup going on my Gigabyte 7950.

SEE OTHER THOUGHTS!!!

Don't get burned like I did. Shame on ATI for releasing flawed tech. No excuse to have such an atrocious and annoying flaw in their high end video cards.

Cons: None

SEE OTHER THOUGHTS

EYEFINITY SETUPS WILL HAVE TEARING NO MATTER WHAT IF YOU HAVE MIXED CONNECTION TYPES!

THE ONLY WAY TO NOT HAVE A VIDEO TEARING ISSUE IS TO BUY A CARD WHERE YOU CAN HAVE ALL YOUR MONITORS ON THE SAME STYLE CONNECTION SUCH AS THE SAPPHIRE FLEX SERIES CARDS.

Other Thoughts: Through no fault of this adapter, but rather a hardware shortfall in the 6000/7000 series cards, you will always experience tearing on at least 1 of your monitors due to not being able to synchronize more than 2 monitors at a time. (If you are using an eyefinity setup, extended desktop display mode is not affected) This is due to the fact that these cards have only 2 mdts chips that can send a clock signal to your monitors on either a DVI or HDMI connection. Displayport connections use packets to transmit the data to the monitor rather than a clocked signal, so being that their is a difference in the way the signals are transmitted it is impossible for all of your monitors to be synced and have no tearing. The only way around this is to buy a Sapphire FLEX series card that has an extra, 3rd, mdts timing chip built into the card. This will allow you to have 3 DVI connections useable out to your monitors. Since all 3 displays have a clock signal the will all be synced properly, and none of your monitors will experience tearing. Had I known this to begin with when I was making my new videocard purchase, I would have b ought the flex right away instead of my gigabyte. Also, obviously, the fact that you can have 3 dvi connections on the flex eliminates the need for a costly active displayport adapter.

Soooooooooo, now I am going to purchase a FLEX 7950 and crossfire it with the gigabyte. Use the FLEX as primary and have my displays connected to that, and have the gigabyte in X-fire. Can't wait to have two of these bad mamma jamma cards pushing my games at 6000x1080 resolution.
