3 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, Slow Graphics

Pros: Easy to install (if you following the instuctions cafefully) Does exactly was it says it will do. (Note: I installed it on XP not Vista.)

Cons: The graphics quality of this adapter is compareable to a 16mb videocard. When you move windows around on the screen they are very jumpy. I use this at work and after about 6 hours I saw a memory drain on my pc, I had to close several windows I had open and then my pc started working fine again; never had this problem before useing the adapter.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if made this item with more memory, I would pay the extra money.

1 out of 5 eggsNot ready for Vista

Pros: I did get it to work in Vista. However.... I am returning it.

Cons: The Kinamax website has a Vista driver which turns out to be a Beta. The actual manufacturer (not Kinamax) does not have a Vista driver but has a new device they claim will work with Vista. I actually shoehorned the driver in and eventually got the unit to work as second display. I discovered at any resolution over 16 bit it would bluescreen and reboot Vista. So I adjusted because all I wanted was Outlook to display my mail box on the second monitor. The real problem was I had to kill so many premissions that finally Vista would not do updates and any Anti-virus prog would fail to load. Not ready for Vista.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work from day one

Pros: Great theory

Cons: Poor reality

Other Thoughts: Has not worked, no matter what I do. The documentation is totally pointless.

4 out of 5 eggs--

Pros: Works in Linux with the sisusb driver. It's great if you have a laptop that needs an extra VGA port. Graphics performance is acceptable for typing/browsing.

Cons: If you have a desktop or need accelerated graphics, you shouldn't get this. Desktop users should just buy a graphics card and put it in. Laptop users needing accelerated graphics should get the VTBook.

Other Thoughts: The "Kinamax" name is nowhere to be found and the drivers aren't signed. The lack of signed drivers might be an issue for Vista users.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Concept is great. Would have been very helpful to have a USB device to rapidly hook up extra monitors for business use. Also, hard to find dual monitor video cards that fit low profile mini-cases.

Cons: Blue screened!!! Device just would not work. Used both enclosed drivers and downloaded.

4 out of 5 eggshm

Pros: It adds another monitor to a laptop what more could you ask for

Cons: I don't really like the refresh rate on the monitor, it is like a kvm over a network, but is you don't need the refresh rate up then it is good....so just throw like a word doc on there and you are set

Other Thoughts: good product, but when changing the resolutions on it, i have had it lock my system up for a while and sometime i just have to hard reboot oh well it was inexpensive always great from newegg

4 out of 5 eggsWorks in Linux

Pros: Works with the sisusb driver for 2.6.x kernels and sisusb x.org driver. Works great out of the box with SuSE 10.1.

Cons: Currently there are driver problems with big endian systems so probably can't use it on power pc linux systems.

Other Thoughts: Must have USB 2.0! Not recommend for resolutions over 1024x768 or any case where you need stellar performance.

5 out of 5 eggsshockingly impressed

Pros: it works. it actually works.

Cons: it is external, thus it takes up space. the install is a bit clunky.

Other Thoughts: i've been rocking this for about 3 years. it's not the "best" way to expand one's display, but when i'm in the office, my system is centered on a laptop and 2 lcd's. i'm not sure how else one would pull off 3 screens with my based on a laptop. did i mention, this thing actually works.
