5 out of 5 eggsWorks As It Should

Pros: This is (or was rather, seeing as it is discontinued) a very solid power supply for a very reasonable price. I used mine to make a home built laptop cooler, and it has worked flawlessly for that purpose for around two years now. I have used this model in other laptop cooler builds as well, and am yet to be disappointed.

Cons: I suppose a "con" of this power supply would be that it DOES tend to get a little on the warm side, but what power supply doesn't? Definitely not hot enough to cause concern, and most definitely not enough to warrant losing an egg over.

Other Thoughts: A great, cheap power supply for less. What more could you need?

5 out of 5 eggsunorthodox use

Pros: I used it to power my Coleman electric cooler. The original supply burned out and a new one too costly so I modified this unit to run my cooler (changed plug). It has worked running full bore for 2 years now. I make sure it is not confined and can cool.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I did have to modify it but it was worth saving 30 bucks. I realize it voids warranty and can be a fire hazard if in confined place, but what the heck life is boring if you don't take risks.

5 out of 5 eggsAll around great

Pros: I have found these to be the perfect power source for test kiosks that I make for our engineers.

Cons: The only con is I feel the power cord is a little too short.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap garbage

Pros: It's cheap, and that's ALL it is. Bought it to replace oem power supply on my 19 in lcd monitor.

Cons: For powering a monitor, which is it's intended purpose, it's USELESS! The power supply is not filtered properly resulting in interference lines on the screen, most noticable with light backgrounds. It results in terrific headaches.

Other Thoughts: Switched out the power supply from my laptop, it works great, no interference. Also had no problem with the OEM powersupply which died recently, but it did last several years with constant use.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Great Value, easy to use

Cons: Does not have the UL (Underwriters Labratories) seal of approval on it.

Other Thoughts: The power supply works great, however I am a little concerned I was unable to find a Underwriters Labratories seal of approval on the power supply itself or on the box. Hope it doesn't start a fire!

5 out of 5 eggsSufficient power for multiple +12V devices

Pros: Inexpensive and compact. Green LED built into power supply illuminates to show its got power. Standard coaxial power plug.

Cons: Not a major con but the power supply I received did not appear exactly the same as the one pictured. It was still labeled as a 12V 6A power supply but had a 2 prong AC cord instead of the grounded 3 prong cord as pictured.

All this just means is Kinamax probably gets the power supply OEM'ed from whoever has them in stock and/or the cheapest. That's fine with me.

Other Thoughts: Made overseas just like any other switching power supply you get nowadays so it's pretty much a throw-away item if it burns out.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, what this power supply is good for is to eliminate the wall wart AC adapter overcrowding problem on a power strip. I had 4 AC adapters, all +12V and they ate up all the space on a 6 outlet power strip. Kind of dumb to have 4 AC adapters all making the same voltage when 1 will do.

Add up your +12V milliAmp requirements to make sure it doesn't exceed 6A. Mine fortunately is under 3A so hopefully running it at 50% means it won't overheat and will last a long time. Snip/Splice/Solder/Heat-Shrink together your coaxial wires from all the AC adapters and wire it to a female coaxial socket to mate with this power supply.

Since this power supply uses a regular AC plug, it freed up my 6 outlet power strip where it now has 5 free outlets I can use. Much better than chancing a fire hazard with more AC power strips.

Pros: cheap and works

Cons: died less then a year maybe 10 months if i remember right
