The CyberPower 6050S surge suppressor is an all-purpose electronic surge strip with one built-in RJ-11 port and 1500 joule MOV technology. RJ-11 ports allow for protection of telecommunication devices such as phones, faxes, modems, and DSL lines, while MOV technology safely guards the surge suppressor and connected electronics against line abnormalities and lightning surges. This surge protector is ideal for personal computers, stereo electronics, phones/answering machines, and all other consumer electronics. The 6050S is also equipped with EMI/RFI filters that block unwanted line noise from all connected electronics.

5 out of 5 eggsDeployed Many - No Failures

Pros: We have deployed 10+ of these over the last year or two. They work and none have failed

Cons: None so far. Wish the switch had a backlight

Other Thoughts: High Joule rating, low failure rate. What else needs to be said?

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: When I plug it into the wall and turn it on the devices plugged into it work. I like the right angle plug that takes up much less space than the straight plug in type.

Cons: The on / off switch looks like it should light up when the unit is plugged in and turned on but it doesn't light up. All of the other power strips / surge protectors I have ever used, unless they were a solid color lit up when plugged in and turned on.

Other Thoughts: Because of Newegg's policy that states: "All Potentially Defective Product claims should be sent directly to the manufacturer or warranty provider for evaluation and warranty support. Refer to the products' individual warranty policy for further information", I emailed CyberPower asking if this was a defective unit because the on/off switch didn't light up when plugged in and turned on.

At least they responded. "Your unit is not defective. There are no lights in the 6050S. Nothing will ever light up for any reason."

I emailed the actual seller: ant online com and never got a reply. I won't be buying anything from them anymore.

I also probably won't be buying any more Cyberpower products. I'll be sticking with APC and TRIPP-LITE, Belkin or Kensington. At least I know when their units are on.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your review on the CyberPower 6050S. This surge protector does have an on/off switch. While there is no backlight for the switch, when the power button is switched to on - the surge protector will be on. When switched to off - it will be off.

5 out of 5 eggsShould suppress shocks supremely

Pros: Very good joule suppression rating (1500 joule) in this price range.

Cons: * No long gaps between outlets, so big transformers are going to take up multiple outlets, and/or hang off the edge.
* On/off switch not well labeled; seems like it would be easy to accid. switch off. (Hasn't happened to me yet, though.)

Other Thoughts: Consider cord carefully. You don't want it to be so long that it's in the way or all coiled up... yet you need to reach the plug.

This is a good bang for the buck, and I'm glad I got it.
