2 out of 5 eggsNot the best product...

Pros: Convenient

Cons: Unreliable

Other Thoughts: I'm an IT admin. I purchased these for our teachers... they have Lenovo all-in-one M92zs. The M92z did not come with a video output, (they have smartboards) so I was forced to come up with a solution. I bought 6 of these. 2 are broken and 1 is on its way out... They work ok for documents, (and work well with the touchscreen), but I have a really hard time getting video to work on any of them.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. To better service you and understand your set up, please feel to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggsExtra screen real estate

Pros: -As a programmer that works on older computers, this thing is a godsend. I get extra screen real-estate for way less than the cost of a new monitor or graphics card. What really impressed me is that it runs all kinds of videos flawlessly including HD.

-This adapter is extremely portable! It's very light and small. I move a lot so this is a huge bonus.

Cons: -Running video through this thing takes up a lot of CPU power so gaming and watching video tends to make the game lag a bit. If you are on newer hardware, it shouldn't affect your gaming at all.

-I can only use the adapter in specific USB slots with enough power.

Other Thoughts: If you are skeptical about this working with HD video, then don't buy it and move on. It has a million perfect uses -- the best being that I get to increase the amount of workspace for programming.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This product has been used with a Dell latitude to enable a 3rd screen even though splitters and other "connectors" will not work because the internal graphics card is maxing at 2 screen.

Cons: Max resolution is a bit low for use in our business, except for presentations.

5 out of 5 eggs2nd Monitor Connections

Pros: Ordered two of these to enable 2nd monitors on two workstations. After a bit of fiddling with resolution, got them working and they haven't been a problem since. My staff love me!

Cons: None really, other than a bit challenging to get all settings right the first time (the adapter doesn't support as high a resolution as what the monitor is rated at).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as described

Pros: - No visible lag
- Quick installation and detection
- When I was searching the IO Gear website for the latest drivers, I found it very efficient, fast, and simple to use

Cons: - Had to download the newest drivers off the IO Gear website, Windows 7 is not supported on the drivers provided on the disk

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Pleased

Pros: Works perfectly. Win 7 installed drivers automatically. No need to even open the included CD of drivers. Setup was easy and the operation is amazing. Was up and running in less than 10 minutes. Purchased primarily for use with multi screens for spreadsheets, website updates, etc. But it played a Youtube video without any hesitation or lag.

Cons: none I can think of

Other Thoughts: Would purchase again and easily recommend to others

5 out of 5 eggsSuprisingly Good

Pros: This little device actually performs suprisingly well. Running on Win7 32 4GB/Core2Duo on secondary 19" monitor. Ran "The Tunnel" movie in VLC with resolution 1280x544@25fps and I had to turn the speed up to 3.0x to get any type of distortion during playback.

Cons: The box that newegg shipped had been stuffed with the brown paper in lieu of bubble wrap. So I could not pop the bubbles while I waited for the drivers to download.

Other Thoughts: Doubled as a vga cable extender since comp was on one side of the desk and the far monitor was on the other side, which is usually where the far monitor goes.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk Drivers

Pros: If it worked it would be great where you need one more desktop display. When it works it's very handy.

Cons: ConstantLY conflicts with and breaks nVidia drivers.

It does me no good to spend hundreds of dollars on video display cards just to have this horrible device crash them all, I'm REALLY REALLY DISGUSTED WITH IOGEAR FOR NOT PROVIDING UPDATED DRIVERS THAT WORK WITH NVIDIA CARDS AND THEIR DRIVERS!!!!

Other Thoughts: I've been fighting with this highly aggravating device and it's godawful drivers for months, finally I had to give up. I've got two EVGA GTS 450 cards (SLI'd) and one GT 220 card and this thing will NOT play nice with them. I need 5 displays on this machine because one of them is for security cameras, I wanted to use this for a spare display but it doesn't matter what I run on that display this thing and it's drivers break the video drivers on the nVidia cards. I get everything working with the nVidia cards, plug this in, a box pops up that says the device is not compatible and to check for new drivers, then sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. No matter what at the next system boot this crashes the nVidia drivers and I get ONE display instead of 5. This thing is horrible to work with and YES I HAVE THE LASTEST SOFTWARE FROM THE IOGEAR WEBSITE!!!

To get all 5 monitors working I had to use the SLI Surround feature on the nVidia cards and put two displays on the GT 220 ca

Manufacturer Response:

First, thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. The product should not behave as you described. We have not experienced the problem you are describing with NVIDA graphics cards. Depending on your operating system I would recommend using the updated graphic driver for the GUC2015V located on Displaylink's website. Please contact our customer service at email: and let us know in more detail on when and how you’re having this experience. We strive to ensure our customers are serviced with a properly working unit to exceed your satisfaction. Again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggsI like'em

Pros: We have used 6 of these to date with our Windows 7 upgrade project mainly to add a second monitor to a workstation setup. All have worked nicely and have been used on desktops and laptop docking stations.

These devices are supported by Windows Update so just connect the monitor up and plug into a usb port and the pc will go out to Windows Update and basically install itself.

No issues to date in a business environment with picture quality. This can be a good option for issues with upgrading older pc's with unsupported video cards.

Cons: Probably not a good option for pc's that are used to play advanced games on.

1 out of 5 eggsIogear – Beware - Customer Service Hell

Pros: No Pro's at all.

Cons: Failed to install.
Horrible Customer Service.
Still doesn't work. Customer Service refused to help without my paying for outside consultant.
I lost $60 and 4 hours of my workday.

Other Thoughts: Iogear – Beware - Customer Service Hell
I bought an Iogear GUC2015V External Video Adapter recently to connect two monitors on my office PC.
I followed all the instructions in the manual. I was unable to install this product on my Windows Vista PC after many attempts and reboots taking over 2 hours of my workday.
I finally called the Tech Support number on the instruction manual but could not get anyone on the phone after 4 attempts. I finally left a voicemail. No one called me back.
The next day I called again and this time someone with a thick Philippino accent answered the phone.
For half an hour he took me through the installation process again including downloading another driver. Still would not install.
They he proceeded to tell me that I need to pay for an engineering to take over my PC to help me diagnose the problem. I refused to pay for tech support for a problem that is in their software. I already paid $60 for this useless gadget at Fry's.
I asked to escalate, but n

Sorry to hear the problem you had with the GUC2015V. Also, we apologize for the poor customer service at level 1 tech support. What you experienced was a little unusual. You can email our tech support at and we would do our best to resolve the issue for you.
