5 out of 5 eggsEpic Support

Pros: Convenient, Easy to use

Cons: None at this point

Other Thoughts: I purchased this product to connect a 3TB back up drive to my Laptop. As it was one of the few that distinctly stated it supported 3TB drives. When I connected the drive it only showed 746gb. I call WD, they immediately blamed the adapter, as soon as I mentioned it.

So I called Kingwin, There support was nothing short of phenomenal. In the end we have concluded the problem lies with the HD. The tech was notably empathetic that he could not solve the problem.

At one point in the conversation, I mentioned that I had had another Kingwin product, However I had misplaced the power adapter for it. He arranged to send another free of change.

This company know the meaning of customer service.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect 10

Pros: This is an awesome unit. I got it from a friend for back-up and storage purposes. As soon as I plugged in the USB, it worked right away. It comes in a nicely packed little box and has everything in it. I was able to transfer all my movies and files to my external drive using this little device, absolutely perfect. I think this is something that everybody needs. Great job Kingwin.

Cons: Can't think of any.

1 out of 5 eggsDeffective

Pros: Easy to put together

Cons: The people sending it took their sweet time, it was far off. The device itself did not work at all and dont even attempt to try to get help from the people who make this.

Other Thoughts: Just pay the extra 10$ and get a solid device that works from a good company.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what its ment to

Pros: *Does what Its supposed to
*Cheap! (Even cheaper local)
*good little kit to have

Cons: *Its a bit slow (30 /mb) but its USB so what do you expect.
*Manual ... why even add it! but the item is Picky! YOU HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE PROCESS THE WAY THE MANUAL SAYS
(so - an egg for the lack of user friendliness or is it really for providing prof that most people are stupid and made me feel stupid? since I did not reading it the short 1 page manual)

but really it is kind of annoying that it "HAS TO BE" done this way.

Other Thoughts: (manual)
step 1 - Plug the hd stuff in
step 2 - plug in wall outlet
step 3 - plug in usb
step 4 - if it don't work then you didn't follow this 3 step process and now you are stupid for not reading the manual...

-- I wanted to try a DVD drive but didn't have any spare other reviewers say it didn't work and I didn't use the software so sorry no input about that --

Just used it tonight on my cousin's husbands pc, he has a failing hard drive and we found out it was failing using this product at first we though it could of been something else but after watching the hard drive stall in his pc and out of it ... I used this to back it up to my working machine so he doesn't lose his stuff. it took for ever due to the bad hd, but worked fine with the replacement hd.

Would I buy it again? ... Yeah I would buy it again

1 out of 5 eggsNot detected by OSX 10.7

Pros: Comes with a windows 98 driver.

Cons: OSx 10.7 does not detect the adaptor at all. It's not visible in the system information, and drives do not connect. Completely useless to me.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: None - I couldn't get it to work more than a few minutes at a time.

Cons: SATA power connector didn't work. I used the four-pin IDE power connector instead. This connector is not keyed properly allowing easy upside-down insertion of the power connector.

USB connector is loose and doesn't make a contact good enough for the device to be usable.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Mini USB connector

Pros: For the 10 minutes it worked, it was great.

Cons: Mini USB connector on the adapter is poorly designed and USB plug falls out. Trashed my hard drive.

4 out of 5 eggsGood adapter, poor USB cable

Pros: Great adapter to use for recovering a drive or turning an extra internal drive into an external.

Cons: The USB cable that came in the box has a bad connector on the mini side. It causes the adapter to not have a good connection. Poor connection could cause this adapter to trash a drive if it disconnects during writes. Other cables work fine.

Other Thoughts: I have used other USB to IDE/SATA adapters and I like this one best. I bought this one to replace the original Kingwin adapter I gave away to a friend accidentally.
